Default Summit Point TrackCross Pics & DIY Tire Blankets

I went down to Summit Point last Sunday for another round of the Refrigerator Bowl Trackcross series, and was blessed with some beautiful sunny weather in the 50's by mid-afternoon!

I also made some DIY $25 tire blankets to try out for the event as I just can't stomach the $250+ RCX tire blankets for something I'll use for a few minutes a handful of times a year at most.

First time driving the car on 200tw tires, as I got another set of 2013ish WRX wheels as a second wheel setup and it was a blast! Much grippier and more predictable at the limit, just like what I'm used to on my track car.
Eventually the Falken 615's will end up on the 8" wide WRX wheels instead of the 7" wide v7's, but the A/S tires on my daily v7's were toast so that was the quickest, easiest way to go as the WRX wheels still had some good A/S tires mounted.

Luckily for me I know Shenandoah circuit pretty well, drove well, and only had 5 contenders in my class, so I happenned to take the first spot in SA2 class - Street AWD under 400hp.

Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for a little video at some point soon. Ask away if you have any questions about the event or the tire blankets!

Cheers!

Paid track photos courtesy of Jeff Walrich Media. $30 pre-paid for 15+ photos. Just a selection of some of the cooler ones IMO.

The Karussel!! Apparently a near exact copy of the one on the Nurburgring? Easily my favorite feature of Shenandoah circuit!

"Touring" Lunch Laps on Main

I could feel my inside front wheel spinning when I came up around this section of track during the AM runs. Now I see why!

Good stuff and looks as if you had fun winning your class.

If it's not fun, I'm not doing it right, haha.

Very happy they created a new class for awd street cars OVER 400+hp, because now I think I'd have a chance at the overall SA2 championship if I make it to all the events (already missed the November event this yea though, so I'd have to count on some of the other contenders missing an event

Cooked up a little Youtube video on using iMovie on my phone last night. I need to start messing with importing all my media onto my desktop and using iMovie on there, as I'm sure there are a LOT more editing options.
