Pricing, installation directions (more like with which components it may interfere), actual install pics, etc...
I'm wondering if it's like a modified Christen system.

Edit: a re-application of the Christen system's principles, as we wouldn't require nearly as many parts as their inverted system.

There's a little more to it vs the Christian system. The Christian system is based on normal and inverted flight; 2-modes. Our unit will have 3-modes of operation; normal (straight), Left, and Right.

Instructions are fairy simple. plumb both heads into this valve, then a single line to the A/O separator or can. Essentially this valve replaced the 'T'. As far as where it goes, it doesn't matter. Firewall, strut tower, intake manifold, etc., would all work just fine. The device will have mounting holes and I'm working on a bracket for GR (that should be an easy retrofit to the GD) mounting to the firewall although it will be for FMIC only. Creative locations will require custom bracketry on the users part. No pics yet, they will come once we've got some testing completed.

I will be running dry sump and no breather, so I guess this should not apply. What do you think?

^ No with a dry sump your vents are going to the reservoir. Even better if you've got scavenge stages on each head to keep them from flooding (which is what we recommend). Although we've only seen a need for dry sump on cars running banked oval or circle tracks.

Who makes it? Tech details? How much? I am probably going to get one from Dailyengineering unless convinced otherwise.

Thanks, John

That's who's it is, and far as price it's well worth it and not as much as going through motors

That is if it works as advertised. Have not used it, but have heard mixed reviews. Research before buying. Not enough stages either IMHO if you run in circles and MUST run dry sump.

Well thank you both for the info and thoughts. I am going to give it a try. We will be road racing, but at least one track we run - Robleing Road near Savannah - is like an unbanked oval with two opposite corners. So wish me luck![IMG][/IMG]

We were running an EZ30R turbo, which we blew at Savannah, and are now having a 2.1L EJ20 built by Joe Hanna at ASF Machine.

This is a great idea, I had this issue twice last year and during one session I lost close to one litre that came out of the catch can.

That's the POO, I have the Daily Engineering dry sump and pump and it's brilliant. We've since imported two more for customer cars. Brilliant piece of kit. Instantly solves all breathing problems but it's expensive and probably only for extreme racers.

So this aeroplane breather control thingy will have a much wider appeal and help a lot of people out if it works well.

MSRP will be $395 for the '3-Way Vector Valve' (yes that's what we're calling it), and will include the valve and GR or GD mounting bracket for FMIC setups. TMIC will take some creativity on the users end, but shouldn't be too difficult.

I regularly fly aerobatic aircraft with christen inverted oil systems. No matter what your vent system is going to dump oil at the end of the day. It reduces loss, but we have an abundance of oil to work with, a 12qt engine can still operate on 3 quarts..... But you will notice abnormally high oil temps and land soon.

^ Absolutely. And I have to say, working with some of you aerobatic and 'experimental' aircraft people is an interesting experience. I thought car guys were nuts

The Christian valves have limitations and work best with inverted flight and non-inverted flight. In-between... well that's were it gets a little bit fuzzy and functionality is compromised, which is why we use multi-pickup dry sump setups on Suby powered aircraft so the pickup point is almost always in the direction of gravity and PCV becomes a non issue.

Fortunately for those of us that prefer our adrenaline served up on pavement, these issues are a non-issue for this type of valve The valve actuates at a certain side load and not when it's below that point. Fluctuations in force due to vibrations, grip levels, tarmac type, etc. (which are the norm) may cause partial activation near the activation point, but the PCV will still vent as needed, and will definitely be closed above sustained levels.

Doing mostly autox so I don't need this, but hoping to do more track days. It's great to know there is a viable solution being made if I run into the problem.

I am about to rebuild a EJ20 for my FFR 818R and I would definitely include this in my build if you can find a way to take this to market in the next month.
Do you have a release date?

Before a release date, I'd ask how testing is going...we engineers do that stuff, so I know it will be done before going to market.

We are going to have a beta batch finished very soon. After we have solid feedback, with any potential design changes, well post a release date.

Due diligence comes with every product. This product has been in testing, in one form or another for years, the basics of the design are already know. It's elegant in its simplicity.
