I have had my car tuned previously by two different tuners one of which was horrible, I would not receive revisions for 3-4 days, and couldn't ask questions without an attitude filled response.

From the first time I emailed Ron he continuously replied quick and answering everything in full detail even before I had mentioned tuning with him. I had a finished e85 blend etune map within four days and would've been sooner if my work schedule hadn't interfered. Ron is a great tuner and I can easily say that he will be the only tuner touching my car and any future builds.

Glad to see this thread still going! I recently got a VF48 PnP'd, larger turbine, and billet wheel. Will be reaching out to these guys once I get it, and fuel mods, installed.

I have been e-tuned by both Mikey and Ron.
Both of them provide excellent tunes and are extremely knowledgeable in what they do.

I was absolutely blown away by Rons response times when providing revisions and information. If you are considering an etune I would highly recommend his service.

I recently had my 15 WRX tuned by Ron Watson of PhatBotti Tuning and couldn't be happier. If anyone is looking for a professional and perfectionist tuner I highly recommend him. I am extremely picky and he exceeded my expectations.

I've had experience with other tuners that were good but none were as thorough, prompt, and detailed as him. This was my first Etune and I was simply blown away at how easy he made it. Over a period of two days he tuned my car. It would've taken less, but I lagged in returning logs (I have a two year old to chase around). He never lagged and was efficient.

Ron communicated throughout the whole process. The end results were reliable power with no knock or "events" in my datalogs. Rock solid boost and rock solid tune.

Ron has been a Godsend. If you live in CA with a 15+ WRX, you need his services. He has figured out what the FA20DIT wants. His blended E85 (I'm running E40 specifically with the help of an ethanol content analyzer from Zeitronix) is the answer to the E85 HPFP dilemma that is plaguing the platform.

I can't believe how great the car feels compared to 91 and his response times and knowledge base is astonishing. Go to the best.

Ron's the man! I love the tune on my 22T/205 hybrid. He always got back to me. I need to send him one more log but my tranny died, lol. But I installed a new trans so I need to get around to it.

I contacted Ron regarding a tune a few weeks back while i was waiting for some new parts to come in. I scheduled a dyno tune, but i wasn't able to make it up to his shop for another week or so. In the meantime he offered to do an e-tune when my parts came in so i didn't have to drive around in slow mode.

Fast forward a couple weeks and i got my dyno tune. Night and day difference after driving on the Cobb OTS map for so long. The problem i have now is fighting the urge to keep buying more go-fast things.

I've never really had any experience working with tuners, but working with Ron has set the bar high. Very professional, detail oriented and responsive, especially regarding the amount of back & forth needed for doing an e-tune. Just by checking out the shop you'll recognize you're at a solid place. I think seeing the dyno cell in person speaks for itself.

If you're anywhere near the socal area looking for a tune, i suggest you go here. And if you're asking yourself "do i really need a tune?" or "is it worth it?", if you've done any kind of engine mods to your car, i would say yes and yes.

I got a tune from Ron earlier this year for TBE, TVG/EGR Delete, and EBCS on my 2015 WRX. After almost 2 months of driving, the car still feels great! DAM never drops below 1, knock is almost non existent other than the occasional 1.41 which doesn't even occur every time I drive, and the difference between stock and now is night and day.

Ron did my tune is 4-5 days going through about 8 to 9 revisions. The 9th was pretty much a "beat on your car" log which shows how much confidence he has in his tune! The revisions were quick and it only took 4-5 days even with my work schedule and Church activities. I once sent a log late Saturday and got a revision on Sunday even though Ron typically does not do Sundays and is supposedly sporadic on Saturdays. Everything was super timely.

I will not be going with another tuner!!! Once I get my FMIC, GS intake, and flex fuel w/pump installed I will be going to Ron for another tune confidently knowing I will be getting another quality tune with a super quick turnaround!

Got a Tune from Ron on my 2015 sti, running cobb tbe and sf intake. car feels great and Ron is super cool guy and very knowledgeable. I'll be going back for flex fuel tune.

Edit:
Got tuned for flex fuel from Ron, the experience has been nothing but great and he really took care of me.

I plan on using him when I get mine tuned. I know what his flex fuel tunes cost but what does a retune cost? Also how long does it take to setup an etune with him? Do I need to let him know weeks in advance or just a couple days? I plan on ordering some parts in the next month or two and wanna make sure I have a tune ready to go. Thanks

Default 2018 Phatbotti review

I was dyno tuned last week by Ron at Phatbotti last week. I had already did an etune with basic bolt ons and had a very positive experience last year. Got rid of all my feedback knock and DAM has stayed at 1 all year.

Got the flex fuel tune and am very pleased with the results. After driving it a week, it is more than what I want my 2017 wrx to drive. Pull all the way to the top and sitting at the 365 hp and 350 tq mark on e60 cobb flex fuel. Ron was super patient and informative with my questions. Offered a lot of good advice and thoughts on the car. Will be going back for future tunes, for sure.

I've been using Ron's tuning services for 1.5 years now. I've put ~30k miles on my car since then and couldn't be happier.

What did Ron help me with?
Round 1: TGV delete, EGR unplug, EBCS upgrade
Round 2: GS TMIC, Cobb FF, Cobb J-Pipe, DW300C

What works so well about using Ron?
1. The tune is "clean" - it eliminates all of the rev hang you'd otherwise get. The car is great for DD.

2. He has an *excellent* process. Ron values his time, your time, and the final outcome. Every email tells you exactly what he expects and word documents up front and at the end answer 99.9% of questions you might have. He doesn't leave any doubts or uncertainties hanging.

3. Finally... he knows his stuff and he's honest. He does not try and sell you parts that won't actually add a benefit to your setup. I appreciate his approach.

If Subaru asked me, I'd tell them that a limited edition WRX should really just be Ron's tune (done for each car) and a few part upgrades. It would go a lot further to make the car enjoyable for daily driving.

In summary: Ron is great. Get some parts, follow his process, and you'll be happy.

Default Still using Ron in mid 2020

I am on my 2nd tuning process with Ron currently. First tune was flex with supporting bolt ons, now on FP Blue + Flex and Meth and a couple more bolt ons. Ron is straight to the point and gets sh** done. If you want a fast, smooth, fa20dit WRX that makes consistent, reliable power, follow the recomendations on the phatbotti website and get the tune!

Ron’s tuning was amazing, quick replies, he helped me along the way find some issues I had and the car never felt better, he’s the only person I trust to tune my cars now.

I wonder if Phatbotti does any else besides recommending and tuning. Like selling parts or installing parts.

I just finished the e-tuning process with Ron for my 2015 WRX and I couldn’t be happier. I read up on the wealth of knowledge on the Phatbotti Tuning website and based my modifications on the recommendations.

I think the most valuable thing you receive, outside of the tune itself, is the extremely thorough instruction documents that accompany your first and last revisions. They answer any and every reasonable question you could have and then some.

Ron provides service standards and sticks to them. I never waited more than a day or two for a new map. I also participated in a late night e-mail run where I got a map per hour and that’s because it would take me like 30 minutes to load the map and go do the logs.

The tune itself. Awesome. The power delivery is smooth and strong. My only other experience with tuning was an OTS Stage 1 tune. The difference is clear and the money you’ll spend on Ron’s e-tune is well worth it! I can finally beat on my car again!

Default Highly recommend Phatbotti

Just another review here. Ron etuned my 2020 WRX in the fall of 2020 for flex fuel on stock turbo. Car had about ~2300 miles at time of tune and is now clost to 12,000. I've had zero issues, and it still feels amazing. I wanted a conservative but fun tune (virtual dyno 347 hp, 338 tq), and I got exactly what I was hoping for. Worth every penny and would highly recommend!

Ron e-tuned my 2018 WRX last May and I was extremely happy with the results. Life (and weather) happened in the middle of the tuning window and he was very understanding and didn't cut me short from wrapping up my tune.

Specifics were 2018 WRX CobbSF TGVEGRgEBCS TBE dw 93FF
