H&Rs+KYB AGXs on MY01 RS
Sound like a decent setup? That's what I'm looking at right now for mostly daily driving w/ possibly some auto-xing mixed in. I was looking to go Ground Controls + KYB AGXs so that I could have the height adjustment for winter... What do you guys think? GC's + KYB AGX's or H&Rs + KYB AGXs?

Depends on how much you really plan on utilizing the ride height adjustability. Hmmmmmm. H&Rs are pretty low, though (~2") might wanna spend the extra $$$ and get the G/C so you can still negotiate those NY winters.

moss, My son has the GC's and Tokiko's on his CRX and wishes he had gone another route. Even with the car at decent ride height it still rides like S**t. Either wait til you can afford some true coil-overs (Apex, Tein, DMS) or go with a good name spring. I just dropped my Legacy exactly 1inch with some WhiteLines and AGX's and I'm very pleased with the result. my $.02.

That's what I've heard from some people., where as other people say they ride fine. I want the adjustability, but spending $1500 or so on true coilovers for mostly daily driving is somewhat stupid, and considering I'm 18 and a student, the amount really would kill my wallet. So I figured for the $6-$800 range I could buy some GC's and KYB AGX's.... I might just wind up buying H&Rs for the time being (when spring comes around).

The KYB+GC setup should work just fine. You can order ANY spring rate you want, so if you want a softer ride, get softer springs! And the shocks are adjustable, so its alllllllll good.
And the GC springs are not shi+ either! theyre REAL Eibach springs! Thats quality stuff right there! I'll be going with this setup in the spring, prolly 275f/225r spring rates... I've driven an Impreza with 315/285, which is pretty HARD, but it rode pretty good! |

I'm running the H&R/AGX combo and I think for the money it is worth it. The H&R are not too stiff, in fact a lot of other springs (KG/MM, TEIN, Tanabe) are world's stiffer than the H&Rs.
And as long as you don't do any serious rallying the AGXs will stand up to the abuse. I've gone through some rough roads, granted I didn't fly over them, but they'll be fine. |

Keiho, how low is the drop with the H&Rs? Got a picture?
Suby, I believe the adjustability on the GCs is something like a little over 2" lower than stock to about 3" higher than stock (not quite sure though) |

Check out the folling link:
http://www.subrew.com/library/sean_strut_install/ The spinrgs did NOT lower the car the 2-inches everyone claims they do. And do not take advice on how a CRX rides on a given brand of spring/strut. You have a Subaru. CRX springs and struts are obviously not the same as your Subaru. Chris H. www.subrew.com |

moss: Sorry, don't have any on my harddrive right now, and the pics that are on here aren't very good at showing the ride height. But yea, they aren't that low, unless you get mountains of snow every year, they'll be fine.

I'm running the HR + KYB AGX right now. My only complaint is the wheel rub on my rear tires when I have any additional weight in my car (on top of my own).
Other than that, I love em! JM |

I don't have H&R springs on my car, but know quite many people using them. And they said the H&Rs usually lower the car appox. 1.6"... and the stiffness is good for street drive as well as some concering. However, few of them are also complaining about the H&R springs wearing out shocks (as well for aftermarket shocks) faster than other brand name of springs.....

I had H&Rs/FHI Ver5s on my Legacy. They were great. The car handled awesome. THe only problem was the car was a little too low for winter time usability. This is a Legacy mind you, so an RS may be different.
I got rid of the H&R/FHI Ver 5s and bought a set of Ground Control 315/280 9" springs ($399) and AGX struts $400. These spring rates were way to stiff and the struts didn't dampen well when I lowered the car more then an inch or so. I recently bought a set of FHI Ver 5 struts ($290 shipped) to fit to my Ground Control setup. I am waiting on new rear spring hats so I can install the Ver5s. However I was able to get the fronts on properly. I immediately noticed a significant increase in comfort when going over small bumps and other road imperfections. Brad |

i've just put in my GC/AGX setup. the handling is great; the bodyroll is gone!! yeah, the ride is sorta harsh a bit, so if u wanna more comfort for daily driving, get the softer springs with AGX-those strut rocks!!!
cruise on... |
