grimmspeed review
i ordered some parts from grimmspeed.
pnp/coated exhaust manifold with hi flow cross over pipe pnp/coated fp 18g pnp/coated throttle body i have to say their work is great did an amazing job and have to give that to them now for the bad my experience with them the whole time was just delays. they sent everything at different times in different packages they told me that they would have my parts to me thursday/fri the latest. there was a missunderstanding about shipping so it got sent out fedex ground instead of 2nd day....as for they didnt recieve payment for it. install was suposed to be last sunday, tune monday, so i had to cancel both of those. they had all my parts there this last monday. then to find out that my hi flow cross over pipe wouldnt even be here til thursday.......when they were suposed to have EVERYTHING to me by monday. they did not and i was very dissapointed by this. people were not on the same page at grimmspeed like they should be on what needs to be shipped what kind of shipping overnight, second night or ground. there is no excuse for this mistake as for it put everything off even longer. i was not happy with their customer service at all......yes they tried to fix the problem n send the 2nd out of 3rd package 2nd day so itd be to me by last monday but then messed up on the crossover pipe n it was pointless of even having 2nd day product quality is very good i give that to them.........very good quality and im very satisfied with this but their customer service deffinately needs some work thank you grimmspeed for all of ur help, and the great products but i will not be dealing with you guys again sorry, -cody

I'm truly sorry for these issues that you had. As most members know i am very open and honest about everything over here at the shop. Right now we are experiencing some wicked growing pains...our sales are through the roof and we are trying to put the correct employees in place to handle all of this overwhelming growth. I am personally doing everything i can to get everything straightened out and running smoothly again. Trust me, i am 10x more dissappointed in us than you are, this is not acceptable and i am truly sorry. I know there is nothing i can do to fix this past order mishap, but if you would, at some point in the future order from us again, i assure you that i will make every effort to make everything go smoothly. So far the customer service has been good for me from both Justin and Rich. Now l will have to wait and see about the shipping part, I was told they will ship out on Monday and will get to me by Thursday or Friday. I also decided to go with the coating on my parts, which I placed this past Thursday, and payed more for rush shipping.. I hope they keep the promise. I will have to wait and see.

I've had nothing but good dealings with Justin in the past. At the time I bought my TGV's, he informed me about a situation at the shop and their problems with sales growth outstripping their ability to keep up at the time. I took that news and understood that when dealing with "custom" parts that require a bit of handworking, your schedule needs to be flexible. That's how you know you're dealing with a company with good products. I'm sure Justin is doing all he can to get more employees in house to handle the orders.

Well....
My first experience is still going.. I ordered TGV deletes on 25July and it is now 16August, still no parts I would think this is WAY too long. I tried to call, that was unsuccessful, I did email, as the recording said on the phone that this would be quicker. I get a response in about a day, and they did explain that there are a lot of orders a head of mine. Still don't think this should take so long. I would suggest emailing the people, at the very least weekly, if an order is going to take so long. The lack of communication is what angers people, with situations like this. Almost one month and counting..... |

Grimmspeed sent me the phenolic spacers. Only gripe I had was the 8 bolts they sent, 4 were a bit too short (part was for old EJ20G, so I had to make it fit/work from another engine...so it's not their fault at all!) Fitment of actual spacer was great, product is great, and I am VERY happy with the fact that they now give:
MILITARY DISCOUNT! Every company should do this! And some do if you ask...just don't promote it like they did! Thanks guys! OVERALL: two thumbs up! |

I got an uppipe and there new gaskets for the uppipe and they are fantastic. too bad I had to wrap the uppipe cause it looked as nice as the Perrin headers I also hid under wrap. gaskets have been great, 700 miles on them, many pulls from the road tuning yesterday.
Justin and Matt know they were in the car for the pump gas road tuning, these uppipe gaskets actually HOLD maybe Justin will release "spy shots" of the future MBC relocation kit LOL Grimmspeed FTW |

I am having the same slow issue with them also. Before I bought my uppipe from them I had several questions & we sent a few pms back & fourth & was going great. As soon as I paid for it has gone down hill.I have sent several pms & they have been read but not replied to.I have responded in there uppipe thread with no response.
All I am looking for is my tracking number or some sort of ETA as to when it going to ship. It can't be that hard can it? joe r |

You ordered on Friday, it is Sunday right now. Your pipe should be shipping the next business day after you ordered, Monday. The reason "communications went downhill"...i was in chicago for a dyno tuning event for friday/saturday and you were dealing with me. i did not have internet access while i was in chicago. i got home at 2am last night, first thing i did this morning was respond to you. The reason your PM might have been read and not responsded to in the 48 hours that i was gone was because Rich(sales guy) probably opened them and realized you and i were working together and left it for me. Grimmspeed
I upgraded to pretty much everything I could from the grimmspeed catalog for my 02 WRX. I had some initial issues with a boost leak after I installed it (this was cured by installing grimmspeed gaskets), so I have taken some time to see what it's like after fixing the issue. Quite frankly, it's a whole new car.
Full boost hits, and I mean hits even though I still have the td04, right around 2800 rpms and pulls hard. I can actually pass people in fifth gear! Throttle response has improved greatly, the car is just taunt all the time, ready to go at just a nudge of the gas peddle. The car is deceptively fast, it spools so much quicker, throttle response has improved greatly, and the power band is incredibly smooth (however, I am sure having a tune helped the smoothness as well, but it still points as to how well the parts work together). Parts, all pnp and ceramic coated, all exhaust is heat wrapped: Grimmspeed: throttle body Intake manifold phenolic spacers tgv deletes exhaust manifold with high flow center pipe ewg uppipe (running 38mm Tial) Grimmspeed has also helped greatly, the customer service is bar none. They answered numerous questions and even helped diagnose an exhaust leak (my fault, I'm an idiot and heat wrapped the egt bung, whoops). All in all, very impressed with the products as well as the company. |

Did you dyno the car at all? What other mods do you have? I have most of the grimmspeed goodies (I'd have more if I got off my butt and mailed in my intake manifold) but my spool is a little slower (21 psi @3100) due to a large IC. Made some serious power though.

Grimm Speed should be more familiar with all the products they sell. I purchased every single exhaust gasket they sell from Remflex. And at the end of the day, they blew out like crackers under your shoe.
Summary: I wasted $$$ at Grimm Speed. Want proof? Contact Rich @ Precision Tuning, so he can tell you the extra $350 I had to spend to take my car off the dyno (where the gaskets failed), remove the headers, re-install oem gaskets, and get my car back on the dyno another day. |

Please keep in mind two things, this is a low reading dyno. Stock 2.0l WRX's put down about 150, stock STI's about 200. Secondly, my turbo spools way way quicker on the street, like I said, full boost around 2800 on the street.
91 0ctane E85 Full list of power mods: Cobb short ram Perrin silicone hose to Samco turbo inlet STI intercooler Invidia V3 downpipe Custom 3in catback with magnaflow exhaust Perrin BCS Walbro 255 DW 750's Edit: new dyno plot, added fp small 16g, one step colder plugs, zeitronix map sensor, still on E85 edit 2: hta68, e85, booyah! Only running 23.5, will turn up boost later. Also, need to regap plugs, I'm blowing out my spark at higher rpms. Last edited by rexblake; 11-30-2009 at 02:20 PM. |

i'm sorry that you had troubles with RemFlex's gaskets. We immediately stopped carrying their gaskets after we found out some guys were having issues. We have not carried them for a long time now. Since then we have released our own gasket line so we can assure you the quality is there. no more relying on other companies products. Justin |

Rexblake, what turbo are you planning to add down the line? Those are some big injectors! I am planning 650cc with a big 16g. You have to be thinking 18g+

Those are the ones. I had to reuse gaskets at the time, hence the leaks. I then got the new (first batch) Grimmspeed OEM style gaskets, they work great. |

Cool, now I know what to expect. Our setups will be fairly similar (i want to run pump gas), you are about a month ahead of me though! I think doing the Grimmspeed suite before the power trio (big turbo, injectors, FP) is the most logical step for my upgrade path. Thanks for sharing your results!
