So with my 2006 wrx, I decided I want to take the wrap off the car even though that lasted 1 year lol. I am going to be cutting the fenders and applying the wide body Fenders i bought off Kenny. I will start to sand the car this weekend and the goal is to have the whole car, interior and engine bay painted. I probably wont make it to the first Nasa event but will try to have the car 100% done by the end of March. I plan to do GTA events this year in California.

Had a training group come in from Method Wheels today. I guess they've still got the wheel that David Higgins drove on for the rally win at Mt. Hood in 2014 at the Oregon Trail Rally up in their conference room. Bummer, I was hoping they would bring it in with them to show off. Still, hell of a marketing device...

If you're not familiar with the storey, this is the rough explanation, courtesy of Method's website...

Quote:
The dominating duo of David Higgins and Craig Drew got off to a decent start, but found themselves a couple minutes behind teammates Travis Pastrana and his co-driver Chrissie Beavis in first. In one of the first turns during Stage 6, Higgins hit the left-rear of the car and ended up de-beading the tire on the wheel. The stage was roughly 15 miles total, with the raw Method wheel having to face nearly 14 miles of rocks, jumps and speeds over 100mph. Due to some recent structural improvements, the wheel held up amazingly well and only caused Higgins to lose minimal time to the leader Pastrana. Going into the last day of the race, Higgins and Drew had brought Pastrana and Beavis' lead down to under a minute. After the first two stages, they were within seconds of one another. Pastrana and Beavis ran into some unfortunate problems with two tire punctures, allowing their teammates to take the lead.

I would love to see video of this! That’s crazy how they continued to race another 15miles. I wonder what was in the drivers mind, should I pull over or not?

Sorry if I'm missing an obvious source to this question, but I'm in need of a shop in the SLC area that knows STIs. I'm new to SLC, and my daily driver 06 STI is starting to need some help. The local dealer seems oblivious/unwilling to try and diagnose some issues that are probably not too hard for those more familiar. Normally I'd dive in and fix stuff myself, but I don't have a shop anymore, nor much time.

So, who should I take my 100% stock 06 STI to?

I’d definitely recommend Paul over at Solid Autoworks, he’s a stand up guy.

Have a local company that is exploring lift kits. Anyone have a 2014-2018 Forester or a 2014-2017 Crosstrek you wanted lifted for free? PM me.

So I have an 08 OBXT that I'm doing an engine rebuild on. It suddenly developed a ton of rod knock while driving it to SLC from NC where I purchased it and stopped making any amount of power. Metal in the oil so got a new short block. Never done anything like this before and have a thread going on legacygt.

Well here I am with the engine out and mostly stripped down. Turbo has been sent for a rebuild. New short block has been purchased. Have a mechanic friend who I was hoping could take off the cams and heads, inspect and flush all that, and get it machined, but he isn't able to. Any suggestions for a machine shop in SLC that does a good job? Know of one that'll do all that? Or maybe some excellent person likes beer and has the cam tools?

Semi on topic. Been thinking about doing the secondary air pump delete and wondered if anyone's run into emissions issues with that.

I know these threads aren't very alive, but it's time to look at window tinting on the outback. Any recommendations? I'd really really like to go 35% front and 20% rear if anyone knows a place to go.

Go see Taiden Martinez over at Tint Specialists in Murray. I’ve never had a better tint job, he just did my Crosstrek and it ended up looking perfect.
