My opinion is that no matter who drives, Higgens, Block, or Pastrana, until Subaru is back in WRC to claim a real title that means something around the world, they may as well compete in autocross in Georgia in a parking lot. NARC is not a big enough event to mean a hill of beans to subaru sales. While I know it is definitely challenging and I do not have enough rally talent to even drive a safety truck on stage with any quickness, unless you are WRC, you are just dipping your toes in the water.

I don't disagree, and I'd love to see Subaru back in the WRC. WR basically modified the rules in a way that made it impossible for Subaru to compete at the highest levels, there, but things may be aligning to make it possible again (the 1.6 turbo, more Subie's in the lower ranks of Rally around the world, etc.) so maybe we'll see the WRB & Gold back in action sometime soon.

Subaru would need to produce a smaller, lighter, two-door, AWD with a FI'd 1.6 with limits, no center diff (and diffs must be mechanical). That doesn't look much like anything in their current lineup. You'd have to seriously bastardize a BRZ to get AWD or really chop down an STi.

I'm guessing that Higgins, Pastrana, and probably even Block would jump at the chance to drive a Subaru in WRC.

Kenny might never have left the Subaru stable if they had a WRC option in the works.
