Default New Interior/By passing the seat belt and air bag sensors

Hey Guys just bought these Takata Le Recliners Racing Seats with the Cipher Harness Bar in my 2013 STi, my black Takata Race 4 series 4 Harness' are on their way, anyways after i put in the seats in the passenger seat belt light came on obviously as well as the air bag light, just wondering if it was possible to delete the passenger seat belt code and the airbag light? Its only been a day and the beeping is driving me nuts lol let me know guys ! thanks

Is this a daily driver or pure track car?

There is a trick, and it's been discussed a lot if you search.

The reason we suggest don't is that your car is now incredibly unsafe. Any racing harness on the street is unsafe, ESPECIALLY a 4 point.

There are sensors in the OEM seats that detect whether someone is sitting in them or not. So if you disconnect the old seats, the ECU or whatever controls the logic for the airbags and seatbelts is detecting a problem and chiming the alarm bell to inform you of the problem. So you have to figure out a way of completing that circuit for the airbags and seat sensors that you've removed. I'd contact a tuner shop with experience in installing aftermarket seats as I'm sure they know how to fix this.

FYI, driving a car with a racing harness on the street will get you pulled over by the cops as OEM manufacturers aren't allowed to sell racing harnesses in street cars. It's not the cops being a jerk though. Racing harnesses and street seatbelts have vastly different webbing and tensioning technology. So if your Takata stuff has a letter of dispensation from the Canadian govt, carry it with you to avoid the ticket. Also, you'll need to inform your insurance co that you removed airbags from your car. Most carriers set their rates based on the number of airbags in your car. If you change those characteristics, they can deny your claim if you get into an accident (unless you inform them of the airbag removal ahead of time). Good luck to you! Drive safe!

Tuner shop can help you. They probably wouldn't even charge for the advice, judging by the shops I've interacted with.

As for being "committed", I've made financial mistakes with car modifying before. It's all part of the game. You should always do what's ultimately safe and legal. And there's always someone willing to buy your stuff (for a small discount).

Default What about faking the occupant detection sensor?

Can the occupant detection sensor be faked? My 2013 Impreza has a flaky ODS and I would like for it to think someone is always in the seat. I would then always ride around with the passenger seat belt buckled but it would be safe when someone is riding in the passenger seat. Right now it is off if my sons (5'11" 170lbs and 5'5" 120lbs) ride in the seat but it is on if my wife sits there.

This is really a stupid failure mode. The sensor goes bad so disable the airbag? That's as stupid as turning off traction control with a CEL, which I have seen my Impreza do.
