Default Best ej25 block that is compatible with ej22e heads?

Building a Franken and was wondering which is going to be the most durable bottom end for a moderately boosted build. Not looking for insane power just enough to enjoy the car and have a fun daily. My other question is if going with my current non-interference heads will my setup still be non-interference?

You're going the wrong way for boost. 22 heads on a 25 block gets you high compression with poor flowing heads. Decent low end for off-roading and such but bad for boost.

I can personally attest that a 22e bottom end with 25d heads will LOVE some boost if you can tune for it. I ran 18psi from a td04 for a while in my coupe, it was a blast.

That said, if you're dead set, sti (257) is the best you'll get from Subaru, after that you're gonna spend serious coin on an aftermarket block with forged internals, closed deck, etc.

2.5 Type RA is best shortblock from Subaru you can buy new today.

You can obviously build a forged motor, but at that point you might as well use good flowing heads....

Research is your best friend.

1993 WRX Type-RA closed deck w/ oil squirters EJ20G (the block used in all WRC/NBR24 engines) or the 2019 STI Type-RA open deck EJ257?

I'm partial to the ej22t block myself. Closed deck, oil squirters, and an extra 200cc. Slap some real heads on and enjoy.
