If you want to try and track it down, I'd start with a compression and leak-down test to make sure you're starting with a 100% healthy engine. Once you have that established, it would make sense to move onto other things to check.
What oil and oil change schedule are your track cars running?

And what's their track regimen (as in...strictly track cars or weekend warrior track duty)?

By the way I agree; i don't think 1qt per 3,000mi is acceptable either for a daily driver... 0.5qt per 3,000mi is fine.

You should be under warranty. What does the dealership say?

I pay the extra to use whatever oil Subaru uses when they change it at the dealership. I'm not taking any chances with the warranty. If and when I decide to do track days, I'm just going to change the oil shortly after a track day. I guess it makes a difference since I'm not modded. I'm tired of worrying about playing Russian Roulette if my fragile EJ spins a bearing or ringland eats ****. Subaru can deal with the consequences of a hard driven motor.

dealerships (depends on who you go to) will say this is normal.. I'll have to monitor this change a bit more closely, but so far so good.

I've been driving all over and a lot more since things are starting to re-open. I'll have to check back in 2 weeks to see if there's any change. At that point that would be a month since I changed it.

Think i'll stick with 5w-40 t6 for now.

Kind of in a time crunch to get replies so im hoping contacting multiple threads will help expedite a solution..

my story starts with small quantity of oil on the boots of the spark plugs to cylinders 1 & 3. I replaced all 4 with NGK cold step as well as the passenger side valve cover gasket (used silicone sealant).

I also cleaned my SF intake with K&N red oil. After startup I heard a medium-pitched squealing/screech sound and the car was throwing P0102 & P0113 codes. Its also pretty low on oil after only 2000 miles since last change.

Any prognoses? Thanks!

Wouldn't hurt to send an oil sample to Blackstone
