Define normal travel. Like with access to normal locations, amenities, and options? Yeah, at least a year.

For the last few years we've been spending 7 to 10 days in Mexico every 6 months. I'm looking forward to going again, but I fear it's going to be a year or more before I'm feeling it.

We're planning a houseboat trip in the next few weeks on Meade. We'll be driving out there.
We haven't flown anywhere on vacation in nearly a decade. We're usually headed somewhere in the RV so there's your social distancing built in. |

Usually did Hawaii 1-2 times for summer and new year, as well as something for the lil one. Don't see any Americana crap (Disney, amusement parks, national parks) for at least 12 months.
Itching to gtfo. Maybe toward end of summer. Will be expensive. Will be far. Will be something not many do. Thinking heading to one of those 10-15 unit above water bungalow in Maldives. |

I'd also like to get to Hawaii in late September this year.
But may do a road trip up the coast as a backup plan. The risks aren't going away anytime soon (my perception as of this morning). |

Im planning a MTB trip with overland camping end of this summer, just don't know where yet. Either Kentucky/TN/NC or NH/VT. Should be able to make it pretty normal as long as the essential stuff like gas, groceries, etc are ok.

I can maintain the quantity and frequency of my travelling while remaining in quarantine.
Though I would like to travel to Europe in the next few years. |

Reposting here.
https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/artic...e-15259851.php https://mobile.twitter.com/ethanjwei...65939037331456 25 SF doctors and nurses helping out in NYC getting flown on a 100% full United flight. Nope. Yet another reason I'll avoid flying the American big three at all costs. Probably forever now. |

I have interviews offered in 3 different states/provinces with the caveat when it is 'safe to travel'. None of them are expected to happen for at least 6 months. As for normal travel, this will vary person to person. Traveling for us means staying in a hotel / eating out and not worrying about anything other than having a good time. For vacations? sitting on a beach? or skiing? Don't see that happening for 12 months. May be able to travel to ski for the 2021/2022 season. Already have written off the 2020/2021 ski season for an overseas trip. Sitting on a beach? For sure nothing in Hawaii/Caribbean for 2020. They will be open for travel this year, but almost certainly there would be a 14 day quarantine on return. Suspect any travel to the USA will result in a 14 day quarantine for the next 12 months. Maybe longer depending on what the US does with regards to numbers. 2020/2021 is the year to travel your own country. Last edited by the_saintusa; 05-10-2020 at 05:19 PM. |

100% will be on the list when overseas travel opens up. Would love to do a week in Thailand, hit up the Maldives. Most of our travelling will be dictated by what is open and what places do NOT need a quarantine on return home. |

If Covid 19 doesn't get under control in the US in the next couple of months and start getting numbers down, I think its going to be a very long time before a lot of countries start opening the borders to US based citizens.

Highway was typical of a normal weekend (too damn full). Seems like the virus is over.

And for the places that are open to North Americans, the people will be flocking there so I anticipate airfare and hotels to be $$$$$$. If Canadians are welcome to NZ, perfect time to visit. |

I normally travel for work once a month but since Covid, all ops from Apr-June were canned. The major exercise they had planed for June has since been rescheduled for Aug. No idea if that'll happen or if they try to make that one Virtual as well.
Either way, unless I don't have to, I ain't going anywhere until theres a vaccine. I have a kid with existing respiratory issues and elderly in-laws that watch my kids 3 days a week. |

As some of you indicated, we are expecting a spike in leisure travel and social groups ~Jul-August. We've had weddings, birthday parties, & smaller social organizations chomping at the bit to have their event and we've already pushed them all 2x. Summer fever + everyone stir crazy = GTFO and go anywhere.
It won't match historical norms though, as consumers are scared for either themselves or others. Corporate travel (that requires hands on site) will resume almost immediately. Corporate travel (sales efforts) will likely be hampered through Q3/Q4. How can people glad hand folks who aren't in an office? Corporate events will likely be shuttered through Q3. Sports travel will resume if/when they can hold events. Large meetings (association, fraternal, big company stuff etc) will likely be on pause through Q3 and through Q4 depending in the age group. Older memberships are more gunshy than younger groups right now. As it relates to operations or whatnot, tough to answer. I know what we're planning to do and our "normal" operations are still ~60-90 days out. That's not talking about any safety protocols that are being put in place/are in place...those are here until a point TBD, maybe forever. Anything that requires an airplane ride will suffer for the next ~9-12months easily. How badly, no idea. Anything international will suffer for the same, maybe longer. I do hope this drives () travel intrastate. EDIT: And if "normal" means crowds and business and everything like it was pre-Covid, up to 2 years. I'm not sure what is going to happen, I could go either way.
All my conferences for the year have been cancelled, Microsoft in particular has made all their conferences virtual through July of next year. Beyond that, I don't know. All I know is that personally I'd be happy if I never stepped foot in an airplane again for either personal or business travel. |

I felt that way before all this. Along with public transit. And public pools.
I don't get people that like using any of those things. |
