The pure 91 gas will get my ethanol sensor down to 0% ethanol. Pretty much all gas now has at least 10% ethanol in it. They use a lower octane fuel and add ethanol to bump the octane rating to 87-89-91-93 or whichever.

It will be labeled and usually priced like 93. Hyvee has it where I live, and maybe one other random station in the area. Check out https://www.pure-gas.org

Very nice!
The 5k rpm uphill line makes me smile

Car still not together

Curious to know how you guys mounted or fitted for speed density -
the factory MAF will be reaching potential I feel its a good move to go this route anyway now.
Going to figure out how to wire the iat sensor (drilled hole into manifold) and use iWires hybrid kits.

Any pointers would help

Did anyone successfully fit this turbo without spacers, adapters, shaving, modifying or customizing their sti?

My tuner told me to order this fp zero and said "I've never encountered it hitting trans:

And corbin is a excellent tuner.

Are we missing something? It shouldn't hit anything right? But is is. Bottom corner of hot side rests on trans where there's a bolt.

This is leaving my old grimmspeed up pipe in place and alone. Won't attach really.

Do we need to move or flex something to seat it properly? I don't get it. Missing somthing maybe...

Let me know!

When I emailed FP they said most people end up shaving some metal down and fit a custom inlet. I could not get it to fit with my grimspeed external gate up pipe without some decent shaving.

It's finally time for me to bump up the ethanol. Im at 40% right now and it feels awesome. I have some VP x98 that is going in today for some logs.

I will go through this thread again and re-upload the pictures as well for future reference.

Default Same turbo

I have the same turbo with the pinched inlet issue frustrating. Glad to see yours is moving along. Was thinking about an AMS intake manifold, but I want guaranteed clearance before I pull the trigger

With what FP said that should work.
Quoting my email from FP.

The inlet is a pain to get on with anything other than an AMS intake manifold or other large aftermarket setup. Again with the big shops doing lots of these, they find that a turboguard is the easiest solution followed by using an offset 3-3.5" reinforced coupler and a custom hard pipe. You DEFINITELY can make our inlet pipe fit, it will have some interference at the back of the manifold and will conform to the flange. You generally will not have issues with power until you start getting past the 650+ whp mark, then the other options start to shine.

Quick update. The car is currently on around 80% ethanol and we are getting it tuned a bit better. I think I would be making more torque if I had a stronger clutch.

510whp looks like fun.

What's kind of timing you running at peak torque and at redline now with the 80% ethanol?

Thumbs up man, can't wait to get mine going.

Pretty sure it's my clutch not grabbing, and then it grabs again while finishing up 3rd gear.

Timing is anywhere from 21* at the start to 26* at 100mph.

Hi Thin, I am considering this turbo, how is it working for you?

The turbo is awesome if you're looking for an easy driving big turbo car. The 08 wrx came with a td04L that peaked at 2800rpm and went downhill from there. Honestly it was fun sometimes, but way too annoying and almost impossible to drive it smoothly. The XR Zero doesn't start building boost until much later making it WAY easier to drive around town. When I want the power it's there, and when I want to chill the car drives super smooth by removing vacuum pressure and maybe pushing a few psi before shifting. This is definitely not a turbo for the faint of heart though. Throw a turbo guard on it to make it easy, or have some major issues getting it to fit properly. The choice is yours. Well worth the blood, sweat, and tears though. Oh yeah, and all the cash haha.
