I purchased the KillerB spoolinator setup knowing there would be a decent amount of modification required, and it's explicitly stated in the description. That is one of the several the things I admire about KillerB Motorsport as a company.
Definitely, I feel the same way. They should state that there are going to be major modifications to get this "stock location" turbo to fit. The rep from FP even mentioned how their own inlet pipe was difficult to fit correctly.

The real question to ask does it make a difference over a 3 in inlet

I really doubt it. From what I can tell the 3.3" cold side is due to the surge housing and the compressor wheel is only 2.4"... Here is where I'm at now. What do you guys think about running the inlet pinched? There is really no way around it. I could grind a little off the tgv bolt area but there isn't much metal there to begin with.

i have an fp black. i couldn't get the fp inlet to fit in any way that made me happy so I just put a turbo guard turbo screen on it. i don't like the way the inlet gets squished and kinked. I even have the jdm manifold with no tgv housings and i still couldn't get it to my satisfaction.

Fitment appears to be as good as it gets. I have seen other inlet hit on the TGVs there should be fine you can shield it with something if you a worried. A hose clamp wrapped around the inlet there would keep the TGVs from rubbing and the clamp would stay in place. Sounds silly but it’s a simple guarantee that the inlet isn’t rubbing.

About as good as it will get

I have cut about 3/4 of an inch off my inlet, in almost an angled cut to help with fitment

Still fighting coolant lines

Not horrible, but FP could have designed a better fitting inlet. It's molded to a certain shape, and that could have been designed in to keep the manifold from putting pressure on it. Space is limited, but there aren't a million intake manifold configurations for them to consider. There are several turbo inlet manufacturers, but unfortunately they have different compressor end sizes, and we don't all have the time and money to waste to try them all. :/

Here's a little update. I removed all of the hard lines for pcv/coolant and set up some custom hoses. I used a custom line for the bpv which should work fine, but I might trim it a little. I found a few wires frayed/torn so I'll have to solder some cables and I need to figure out how to route the inlet lines. It's setup for an sti with 3 holes instead of 4 with a wrx. Fp mentioned the two solenoids were merged so I'll just have to do some reading.

Nice progress, that first pic was straight spaghetti!! Glad you got past the inlet. Unfortunately that's a close as we can have the inlet be with the block on one side and the intake runners on the other. Surely someone could make hard intake tube that's molded to perfectly run around the runners and still have a lip that goes around the larger turbo inlet. I'm wondering how my perrin intake will work, but I will have more flexibility with routing since it's already going to have the oem big plenum manifold and lots will be custom routed anyway.

Yeah, I don't have any guard or heat shield on mine. I'm keeping hoses as far away as possible and sending it.

My last issue has been a downpipe. I originally bought a grimmspeed divorced pipe with the "limited" milling on the wastegate tube, which I had been using previously. Well, now that I am going with an external wastegate a divorced pipe doesn't make sense. I measured my turbine exducer and its around 2.5", which is just a little larger than the divorced section... I ordered a used cobb downpipe next and was ignorant to the fact that the pipe tapers to a stock catback. Yeah I know I can have the end cut off and get a full 3" but it just wasn't worth my time. It will be easier to sell a pipe that hasn't been messed with.

My last choices were a CNT catted downpipe, or a hard to find (discontinued) HKS catless downpipe with 2 resonators. I called over 10 "distributors" and got the same answer from all of them. I ended up finding one in France from driftshop.com. I'm super excited to see what it will sound like with a catless system and 3 resonators total (one in my P&L catback).

I too have the Fp black and was wondering if you had any bad effects of doing this??

I am wondering if it heats up too much from drawing heat from the motor right there??

Obviously speed density at this point. Love to hear back

it may be sucking in hot air but it still made 609 to the wheels. i really haven't noticed any problems

The car is up and running. It's on a base tune running ~12 psi (torqued performance tuning). Boost comes on fully by 4200rpm and its making around 342whp@5918rpm and 319lbft tq@5084rpm. Injector duty cycle is only at ~54% so there is plenty of room for more power.

I am running the same setup with IAG rails and a hardwired dw300c. Those power number are using ~e70, but I am happy for a base tune. There isn't as much tq as a vf52 maxed out, but the hp is already equal so I am excited to see it at ~20psi.

Do anyone know the thread size for the coolant fittings with the fp turbo?
I dont want to run the -4an adapter that came with the turbo so I was looking for a different route

Should be able to get mid to upper 4s no problem
I'll be doing 93 (gas station issues) with a walbro 450 hardwire kit

Here is a small update fellas. I have the car running on 20% ethanol (trying to get to 0% ethanol/pure 91 octane). It's running about 20psi and the numbers look alright so far. Still more tuning to be done, but so far the turbo/external gate is ridiculous.

Awesome!!

Really it looks smooth even with the curvy boost plot. Wait until you add a some psi and that turbo steps into its efficiency range, it will "wake up" big time. What's timing are you running at peak torque and at redline?

It looks like my timing at max tq (~4800rpm) is 13. The timing at max hp (~6400rpm) is 17.

Seems to be working very well, like I said nice smooth plot even with some boost oscillation.

Iirc at about 22psi and above this turbo will step into its efficiency range, and once that starts to happen you will be hard pressed to get traction in the lower gears
