Problem And Likely Cause: Wind noises rushing by window when closed all the way. Screeching of all windows when going up.

Modifications: Tinted windows

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes

Reason Given For Denial:

Your Story: They said I had a defective window pannel and they fixed it. They also had to change all of the weather stripping because that too was defective. I still can kind of hear the wind noise. The screeching is gone. They tighted the back window so much that it has now peeled my tint off. Thanks guys! You turn one problem into another!
I have the same problem, but I haven't taken it in for warranty. I've had the problem since I bought it. I guess it's were Subaru cut corners.

No. The noise you hear is a product of frameless windows. Every car I've driven/ridden in with frameless windows has this noise. I've found the fix for it in my WRX.

Roll the window ALL the way up. Then when you start to hear the rushing noise, just tap the window down button so that it rolls the window down EVER so slightly. It's not actually open, but it sets it in the seal better. Gets it 95% - 100% each time.

As for the squealing, you can do what I and a few other guys have done. Get a silicone spray and spray it along the stripping on the bottom and front of the window tracks. You'll get a nasty silicone streak for a couple months, but keep cleaning it and it'll stop, as will the squealing

Problem And Likely Cause: Front left bolt fell out of the seat rail for the driver's seat AGAIN one month after getting it fixed.

Modifications: HKS HiPower Cat Back, Freedom Design FSTB, PSI^3 SECS ECU Monitor, Injen CAI, other various stereo and minor mods.

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes

Reason Given For Denial: No denial given, they fixed it in 1.5 hours. This time they pulled the driver's seat to get at it.

Your Story: Last month, almost to the day, I had this very same problem. I suspect that it wasn't properly addressed the first time around. I am going to be rather PO'd if this happens again.
Mine does that about once every couple months, i just get under there and tighten it up.

Default Warranty Denial!

Name: Matt Butler

Make: 2004 Impreza WRX sedan

Mileage: 19k

Time Out Of Use: never taken care of at dealer

Problem And Likely Cause: Tear in carpeting at drivers side

Modifications: None

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes

Reason Given For Denial: They said it was wear. Possibly caused by work shoes, and then said dress shoes.

Your Story: I took the car to Dwyer and sons subaru a couple weeks back for warranty repair on the carpeting. Within minutes i was denied, saying it was from wear. The car just passed the 19k mark. My Taurus has over 100k MORE miles, and guess what.... Still no tear in the carpeting. I've taken my case up with Subaru. After the dealer initially denied me, and told me the cost was roughly 300 for the carpeting, and 4 hours of labor, they reviewed the case. After review they offered to replace the carpeting that they now claim is 750 dollars, and wanted me to pay for 350 dollars in labor. I called them back on this, and expressed my feelings. I should not have to pay for warranty work. The person who reviewed the case has since retracted the offer, and they are just screwing me over now. I have seen nothing but CEL lights, bad paint, and poor material quality in this car since day one of ownership. I have learned my lesson. NEVER buy Subaru again.

Default Try escalating the complaint to a manager or a district rep.

The warranty doesn't say it doesn't cover wear. Heck, if it covers brake pads and windshield wipers, wouldn't it cover the carpet? Just step it up a bit when you complain to Subaru.

There's a product called "gummiflege" or very similar that's a german-made rubber pentrant and conditioner that's supposed to be better than silicone.

Reason Given For Denial: Indirect Denial, not ordering parts, parts never came in

Your Story: Took my car in to get a seat cover replaced due to it overstretching and loosening. After weeks of waiting for the cover to come in, numerous phone calls over 2 months, it comes in. Take my car in, it takes 6+ hours(!?!?!?) to change the cover. When I go to leave, get two blocks away and notice gouges all over the plastics on the driver side interior. Get out of the car to see better. Entire lower door jamb is gouged down to the metal. Steering wheel MOMO logo is dented etc. The tech had his tethered tool in the car to get the seat out and must have been thrashing it around. This occurred over the summer and I am still waiting on parts!!!!!!!!!!! WTF

I contacted SOA the day it happened and had them note it.

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): YES

Reason Given For Denial:

Your Story: AFTER FIRST 6 MONTHES OF USE, FOUND GLOVE BOX LOOSE ON THE DRIVER UPPER CORNER EVEN WHEN CLOSED. FIRST DEALER REPLACED SOME GLOVE BOX PARTS, AND IT ONLY TOOK 3 MONTHES BEFORE THE PROBLEM OCCURED AGAIN. TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE FIRST DEALER AGAIN, SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. TOOK IT TO SECOND DEALER, AFTER THEY HEARD THAT GLOVE BOX HAS BEEN REPLACED, THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. TOOK IT TO THIRD DEALDER WITHOUT TELLING THEM THE GLOVE BOX HAS BEEN REPLACED, THEY REPLACED THE GLOVE BOX AGAIN, NOT ONLY THEY DIDNT FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY MADE IT WORSE. AND TOLD ME THERE IS NO FIX. BULL ****. I TOOK APART THE GLOVE BOX MYSELF AND FOUND THE SOLUTION TO IT!! ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS PUT SOMETHING LIKE FOAMS IN BETWEEN THE GOLVE BOX LOCK AND THE INNER PART OF THE GLOVE BOX TO SPACE OUT A LITTLE BIT. AMOUNT OF THE FOAMS NEEDED TO USE DEPENEND ON EACH INDIVIDUAL CASE. HOPE THIS HELP.

Your Story: lately i noticed when i press the recir/fresh air button, there is a weird noise when the a/c vent door opens or closes, sounds like the door is skipping and not smooth. took it to the dealer, they said its normal and live with it. thats totally bull ****, that noise is not normal, it wasn't there when i bought the car. i took the glove box apart myself, and watched the door opens and closes, i couldn't figure it out. i used the white grease on every links and jionts from the door servo motor to the door, still can't fix it. i think the noise is from the servo motor itself. but i can't bring it back to the dealer because my bumper to bumper warranty was over last week. damn.

Problem And Likely Cause: Airbag Light Goes off - Broke Air Bag Sensor

Modifications: Exterior Only, Disabled DRL's

Submitted For Warranty Work (Yes/No): Yes

Reason Given For Denial: They blamed me for breaking the sensor

Your Story: I bought my car brand new with 63 miles on it, and I specifically remember my car having trouble starting and showing an airbag light on the dash when it finally did. This was maybe 3 weeks after I first bought the car. This never happened again until about a week ago (a year later). Then I decided to bring my car in because of a rough idle/stalling. When I described the symptoms I also mentioned how right before the rough idle, my engine was difficult to start and the airbag light went on. After the diagnosis they upgraded the ECU to fix the rough idle under warranty and told me that the airbag light went off because the sensor in the passenger seat was broken, and would be $900 to replace. And this is not covered under warranty because they told me that I was the one that broke it by stuffing something under the seat. I am 99% that it was broken before, because my friends, knowing how anal I am about my car, probably did not stuff anything under the seat and I was also in an accident and my airbags did not deploy. Having the car for a year and not reporting the airbag light, I felt like there was no use in trying to argue at the dealership about when the sensor broke. Is there any reason to try to fight for this sensor?
