That sounds horrible and probably when I’d swap to night rides in the Midwest. I’m escaping the heat today, it’s 75 at winter park and we don’t even have humidity.

My sandwich is very stale though.

Sundown isn't until 8pm though.

Summer in warm climates is just something to deal with in between the peak spring and fall riding seasons.

It doesn’t really cool off until 11 here during the summer months. Unfortunately my work starts too early to ride before work.

Annual or day pass. $8 or $9 cash these days. Bring a pen. (Credit cards accepted only at the main visitor center, at the wrong corner of the park.)

I am just starting to fly fish and haven’t actually caught a fish yet on the fly rod. Was good to try though.

Yeah pretty windy across the hill from the right (if looking up at the hill from the base). I felt off jumping in the first few runs and adjusted the rebound on the rear and felt better. I feel like I need to still get used to the bigger bike there - noticeably better in so many ways but I need to get used to jumps and how more travel takes off and lands on bigger jumps - I never embed a close call and it feels great just different.

Wind picked up though so I stayed off of the bigger jumps just to avoid doing something stupid before my family trip next week.

No flats on my EXO+, bumped up 1psi from normal pressures for me.

Yeah the upper parts of Trestle always seems to have wind, or at least have for me. Bet it was great to get out though!

It's free if you ride up from say Golden and back. I've done that a few times and it's epic but Drew hill sucks coming back.

So for the “how was Trestle?”

Good as always. I got there about 9:30, got my ticket card from a container they have set up across from the gondola. No line just 1 person ahead. Gondola line to start the day was probably 20min. Was all the way back to where the bathrooms/ski school/rental are but it was pretty spread out and moved pretty quickly. Gondola I rode up solo no problems. I could have paired up the first time up but just wasn’t feeling like it. Masks in line were about 80-90% and mandatory on the gondola platform.

It seems like everybody rides the Olympia lift. I headed over there right away and did two runs but there was a line all three times I went up there. I did the blues up there and they were in good shape.

I decided to head down and grab my sandwich and a break then so I did that then ride gondola rest of the runs I did. Never had a line again and it was much more thinned out.

As for the riding, I felt good. Bike felt good. I mentioned I turned rebound down in the rear - the way it was loading and popping on jumps I was getting bucked up a bit and landing nose heavy. One click seemed to even that out.

Braking bumps and overall track condition were worse than I expected - I figured not as many people riding would be better but it’s pretty dry and some spots are blown out. Not worse than last years times I went but I maybe just wrongly assumed it’d be super smooth.

Second to last run my hands were starting to fatigue. I decided to do a hot lap on Green World for my last run and that was fun - it may not be the high five bro run but it’s fun and flows well and upping the speed is a good challenge.

Time to buy a parks pass!

I always rode keystone when I did DH. They had some big drops and fun gaps. I go to WP every year for a Week vacation and have never ridden. Some close friends of mine have a 2br townhome in the village over looking Zephyr so we go up and just chill. Maybe I should bring the bike.

You should definitely bring the bike. If you don’t you’ll be wishing you did for sure.

My buddies and I used to go up there back in the late 90's, looking back is a bit scary... Hardtails with Mag 21s, and we were spinning out 52 x 10 gearing...

Yep, used to ride Winter Park every Labor Day weekend when I was back in CO for college back around 2000.

Does look like it’s changed quite a bit

Nice ride yesterday morning. We're in rainy/green season and while it normally rains in the PM, it's been raining all morning today and rained Sat AM as well, so that was a nice window of opportunity.

Is that a Laufey? Yea for hardtails!

Some work party pics! Armoring a "hill" to keep it from washing out.
