Default Going to Reno NV

I am bringing some sort of ditch fabric or something to the pioneer ditch to the east side of the airport. Is that area safe ish ? I've never been to Reno and might be spending a couple of weeks there. ( Sometimes they aren't ready and we had a guy sit for 20 days waiting at $500 a day. )

I got in a fight outside a karaoke bar in Reno within 3 hours of arriving in town. If you see a hot chick in a pencil skirt, don't drunkenly tell her she's pretty as you walk by on your way out the door. The fella who has apparently already purchased her services may bust out of a side door of the bar, yell at you, pull off his shirt, and start swinging.

When this happens, leave before the cops arrive and go to the Little Nugget Diner and order an Awful Awful.

I generally GSR when I'm there as it's been fairly well maintained compared to the competition, located between the airport and my work toward the East. It's also a nice and uberable distance away from the mini "strip." Never go for more than 4-5 days at a time, so resort works out and can't really comment on "safe" other than don't leave **** in your car in highly public areas.

Better. I got punched in the face a few times, picked up off the ground by a buddy, and then had a ridiculous cheeseburger. The perfect start to my long weekend in Reno.

East of the Airport is where all the cool auto shops are at. Summit racing warehouse is there, bunch of hot rod shops. Keep going more east and you run into Tire Rack and the Tesla Gigafactory

Most of Reno is a very modern suburban city now. Downtown is where the seedy stuff is. If you stay on McCarren blvd which circles the city thats where most of the restaurants and stores are located. Head south to Carson City for a nice drive, Virginia City east of that for a fun drive. Truckee and Tahoe are 30 minutes away too. Lots of super nice homes strewn about the hills.

Wait... I thought Awful Awfuls only existed up here in RI? Can swear that's trademarked by Newport Creamery, Inc. (It is, but was owned by a NJ company first before Newport Creamery acquired it) https://www.atlasobscura.com/foods/awful-awful Learned something new today. I'm done!

My wife, who was there for a conference, says beware of innocent-looking young ladies wearing cat ears who get scary belligerent when you don’t have $20 to give them for their bus fare.

We dont really claim Bakersfield, it's like a part of Reno that somehow made its way into California.

I wish I had a car to drive, I have the Kenworth unfortunately.
This job is right off McCarran. Thanks

We went to Reno for a convention and wanted to watch Monday Night Football. We walked from the hotel to a sports bar. Some meth head lady started talking to someone in our group and then proceeded to bother us throughout the game and while we ate. We had a good laugh about it but yeah, watch out for chatty meth heads.

Downtown sucks.

We drove down and stayed at the Peppermill, surprisingly nice. We were there just as Burning Man was ending, so lots of interesting people watching.

Drove the KW to Truckee, CA today. Walked some paved trails and most of the town area. The views are stunning just about everywhere you look.

That leads me to Monday and Tuesday. Should i drive to Carson City / Lake tahoe on Monday and spend the night somewhere around there and then try and hike up Mount Rose on Tuesday?

Im at the truck stop in Reno at the moment with nothing to do until Tuesday night.

If you are on a motorcycle, you can ride over to Virginia City where they do the hillclimb: https://www.virginiacityhillclimb.com/

Staying anywhere overnight around Tahoe is super nice. I'm not super familiar with hiking, but pretty much any hiking trails in the area are excellent.

BTW, the Pizzeria in Truckee near the McDonalds is the best! The garlic chips are worth the visit alone

That plate actually describes Reno pretty well. Go over to Lake Tahoe or something instead.
