Check for leaks, Im no pro , but it could be that your Up - Pipe isnt connected properly and some exhaust is leaking before it spins the turbine. This would be my best guess. Did you use fresh gaskets ?

And don't forget to check for vacuum leaks. Something might have come loose while you were swapping.

the wastegate restrictor pill?
Im only hitting 10psi at full boost.

do the 06 turbos hit full boost lower than the 04s due to the larger motor displacement?

restrictor pill is a little gold looking thing that is in the hose that goes to your outlet of your turbo compressor side.

It doesn't matter when an 06 hits full boost as with it's 2.5L engine and different final drive, this has NOTHING to do with your 2004. If you aren't seeing normal boost you have an issue. It could be:

Uppipe gasket leak (you used old gaskets again/didn't torque properly).
You are missing the restrictor pill.
Your new turbo's wastegate arm may need to be tightened a turn or three.

ok, i replaced only 2 sets of the gaskets. I replaced the gaskets that come from both sides of the turbo. I didnt replace the one that goes from the header to the uppipe. I can buy a set of those this weekend.

when you are talking about tightening the wastegate, are you talking about the little arm that controlls the flap inside the turbo right. The arm that comes from the actuator

Yes that arm, but your need to check the uppipe FIRST and then the restrictor pill and then and only then start messing with the wastegate if you don't have the proper amount of boost. Doing so in reverse order would be bad.

ok so basically when i swapped my turbo, i just swapped turbos. I didnt replace any lines, or hoses. So if i didnt mess with the lines or hoses, the pill should still be there...right?

if you didn't mess with any lines or hoses... not even one... then yes, your oem restrictor pill is still there

well i removed the necessary lines to do the swap but i didnt replace any. So then that narrows it down to the gaskets and the wastegate arm.

when you removed the hoses, did you replace them back in the exact same order? if you replaced the hoses that connect the wg solenoid and the outlet nipple backwards the restrictor would be in the wrong place.. and you'd get wg boost.

double check that this isn't the case. you can feel the pill with your finger through the hose. it needs to be in the hose leading from the outlet nipple to the t-fitting.
