Default About to be sequestered for 30 days...er, 60 days.

So I control the power grid for a large utility, looks like they want to have two groups of us here working 12hr days each for 30 days without leaving. The other 12hrs each day would be in a trailer on property. This is to minimize exposure. Obviously it could be extended, or shortened.

So no sex, no booze, no going anywhere for 30 days. It could start any time, waiting on the final word.

Not sure on the size of the groups, could be between 2 and 4 each.

I need ideas on what to bring to keep from going crazy. Suggestions on games we could do in the control room(about 100x40ft), outside etc...whatever.

This is going to suck.

Are you allowed to bring any electronics? Like, can you bring a small TV and something like a SNES Mini (potentially modded to include large libraries of various consoles)?

I asked for a 24 hour glory hole already. Work out equipment is sold out everywhere, but we could bring our own stuff and manage pretty well.

Have no idea how basic/Gucci the trailers will be. Going to need a BBQ, can't do catered food for 30 days...

Absolutely, I think TV's will be provided. I don't media will be an issue, just looking for alternatives to kill time.

30 days of no beer and nothing but time...hopefully I 'll get jacked!

bocce. it's not the most fun game in the world, but it does help pass the time and you get to be outdoors while doing it. chess board. you never know.

Xbox, or PS4, and a TV on which to play. internet access.

my biggest concern would be unrestricted internet access. not that you're going to be visiting pornhub on your lunch break, but if you want to play WOW, or some other computer games, will they allow it? are you going to be able to connect that PS4 to the internet?

if you like to workout, and have kettlebells, bring those, and do some kettlebell circuits.

on the plus side, you should expect gourmet meals. they should be giving you the same treatment that they provide roughnecks that work on platforms out in the gulf for 2 weeks straight. I guess they can say 'but you're not on a platform in the gulf' to which you answer 'well, I may as well be *******, now give me some ****ing steak and lobster'

and thanks for keeping the grids going.

It's not gay if a) you keep your eyes closed, and b) the streams don't cross.

Kindle with 3G to download books.

Board games, especially ones that take a while like Risk and Monopoly.

Deck of cards.

Download as many movies as you can.

Cornhole, Can Jam, Bocci, etc.

Cans to throw rocks at.

Start chewing/dipping tobacco.

Some plastic models and glue/paint to build.

A camp chair to sit in outside.

A speaker for your music.

Put it all in a tough box.

Used to spend weeks in the field or living in bunkers when I was in the Army. All this stuff is good to pass time, some alone some with others.

Whatever you do don't shop. I've seen so many people waste their cash out of boredom.

30 days go by surprisingly quickly once you get a routine. I've done 4 deployments but those combined were close to the average army deployment.

Years ago I had a roommate That worked on roads in alaska and they had three week rotations, once a week I brought him a care package, 1/2 gallon of Jack Daniels.

On 30 day rotations contraband (within reason) is the name of the game.

Also, bring a PS4 and a monitor, a chess set and some books you have been wanting to read. Not sure what your facilities are like but comfort food in the care packages helps, also things you can make when you want, even just making a ramen every once in a while instead of company food can break the monotony and bring a tiny feeling of 'normal', and control and 'not prison' into the grind.

Letter stock, getting some thoughts out to send to a SO (if you have one) can alleviate some of their part of the long absence in a way that an email or phone call can not, it is a more intimate form of communication and can go a long way towards making the situation easyer for them.

Most of these things I got from time in the ARMY (except the contraband and the game system), take the
mn for what they are worth.
