Default 98 RS - Components or 2-ways

Listen to music like Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Jack J., Mumford, stuff like that mainly. Would want music loud enough to hear with windows down on the highway but no need to ear bleeding sound. Prefer clarity over loudness. I have an alpine headunit on its way to me. 6 channel 4v preamp. Probably will get one of those compact alpine amps as well. Looking to keep the RMS under 50-ish watts.

Been debating the speakers I want to put in the car. I would like some rear fill speakers to go into the rear deck (I have the RS Coupe) and either components or 2 way for the front. I've read here that the stock location for the tweeters (next to the door handles) is a pretty bad area to put the tweeters. Would getting 2 ways be much better with the tweeter down by my feet? I'm definitely no audiophile but would like to get the most bang for my buck. I read that the older legacy's had tweeters in the door sail but never found if that trim will fit in my RS.

OEM tweeters are in a good location actually, it's the speakers that are mounted too low in the door.

Sound quality will theoretically be better with component speakers, but the install can be more involved. I would decide what level of installation complexity you're comfortable with, then read a bunch of reviews on the speakers in your price range.

Thanks for the reply!

I actually pulled the tweeters and lower speakers from my old 08 Forester to see how everything will sound. It seems pretty good but I would need to move the tweeters around to really know any difference and that would be a pain since the door cards would need to stay off, etc. I'm going to run these for a little and see how I like them. They definitely need to be replaced but need to review some more sets before making the decision.
