DiRT Rally - Teh OT League happening NOW
The word on the street is that this is supposed to be the next Richard Burns Rally.. and the developers are saying it's a major departure from the previous DiRT games.
CN: No arcade-style assists.. just Auto/Man transmission choices and ABS/traction control. Best Codemasters driver is doing the video above and screwing things up from time to time. It's Early Access on Steam as of today. http://store.steampowered.com/app/310560/ $31.49 right now. Update: 4/2021 Link to the DiRT 2.0 "TEH OT" League: https://dirtrally2.dirtgame.com/clubs/club/229055

I hope it's much different than the previous Dirt. I bought it for XB360 and hated it because it was about as close to simulation as Cruisin USA.
Edit: I don't play computer games and it sounds like they'll never make it for consoles. Cool.... |

Was just reading that several of the in-game stages are actual WRC stages. Is this where I "squee"?

Welp, looks like it is time to get out and dust off that old Logitech G25 setup. Wonder if my gaming machine can keep up with this at this point. The components are a couple of years old now.

My biggest gripe with DiRT 2 or whatever was pace note timing in the rally modes. I would be flying down the road and in a turn before the game called out what it was supposed to be. Just from the video above I'm much more excited about this.
What wheel/pedal sets support true modulated throttle and braking? Do they all? Left foot braking? |

Just saw this too. I am excited, but not sure if I want to buy in now or wait a while.
Probably going to need a new chair, desk, and legit wheel setup to fully enjoy it. Although I'm sure it will still be a blast with a controller. Funny Steam review: Quote:

I really liked the controller responsiveness and graphics of Dirt2 on the Wii

Hmmm, may be time to dust off the old wheel and pedal box.

Rsrbr is still the rally gold standard for me. This might change things.

I don't know where my old POS wheel is.. it's still packed up from my move (nearly two years ago), I guess.
I'm not sure what you plan to do with the mouse, but I managed 2nd place in the old school Mini Cooper S on the Monaco rally (over 4 events) with my keyboard. I tried Greece with my joystick (which I've never tried to use for racing before) and it was a total cluster. BTW: I'm on an old Core 2 Duo system with an old GTX 550 Ti. It runs fine on 'high'.. a few stutters, but that has more to do with my crappy old mobo not knowing how to handle RAM. |

Halp, I am currently posting from a potato. Please direct me to a computer-thingy capable of adequately supporting this game.

Looks great. Gonna be difficult though. Note to self...don't just sit in a Stratos and try and go seat of your pants before figuring out how to get the pacenotes to show.

Someone on Steam said they were getting 80+ FPS on high at 5860x1080 with a GTX 970. You should be able to pull 100+ with your 980.
Do they have a legit 120hz setting? IIRC didn't you get one 120hz and the peripheral monitors are still 60hz, or do you have 3x 120hz now? Yes I do care too much about refresh rate, thanks for asking. But racing games are second only to FPS in benefiting from a high refresh rate. |

1. I have a 780Ti overclocked
2. I have all 144hz monitors, but center one is GSYNC. Not sure what FPS I was pulling but it was smooth. |
