My uncle is a boater. His last boat was an Eliminator something or other so he'll teach us all the ropes! I wouldn't buy that as a first boat not knowing anything about them.

Oof...that's a lot of boat for a first time boater.

Just go ahead and walk around it with a hammer and give it a good whack in a couple of places. That will reduce the pain later when you get dock rash or bump a rock.

yup. years ago when i was a lad, my neighbor Alan got a new 90 something f150. my dad and him were good friends. when my dad went over to admire his new truck he said "boss, this is too nice, better hope you don't dent it up!". So he went into his garage, got a hammer and gave the top rail of the bed a good whack... "there"...he said...

:thumbsup!: Nice boat man.

The best feeling I had as a boat owner: When the buyer paid me with envelopes full of cash, hooked the trailer to his pickup and drove away. I said out loud "Good Riddance".

I'm almost at that point with my 22' pontoon boat.
Figured I'd test the waters early on in the season to see if I can get top dollar for it.
Might put the money towards a newer one, or just save it for a rainy day

Those drinking barges are worth every penny!

Boats are like horses. it better to know someone with one.

How did you get a houseboat to float on 24 bottles or water?

Down here, they are great for the intracoastal waterways and parking on sandbars. They're like pop-up parties.

Here's the local rage, really every weekend is like this

Since I moved here (to AR and HS) I keep thinking about getting a boat to meet people and get the babes. I have an inflatable kayak which is fun

Senior year of high school I had a jet ski and access to a nice boat. My friends and I would hit the local lake and I would drive the boat standing on the seat screaming “honey patrol”, we were scouting for chics, oh and we were complete dorks.

We never found them honeys..... Good times were had though.

Y'all are making me jealous! The boat looks great NutBucket. How much cheaper are houseboats on lake Mojave than Lake Powell? Still one of the best vacations I had was on a houseboat on Powell.

But I agree, I love wakeboard boats but pontoons are the best!

Seattle weather hasn't been nice enough to enjoy the water

I don't know actually. It's my wife's family that's into boating. We want to go to Powell but that's a long haul for the kids.

I'm literally along for the ride!

Powell is worth it. Just breathtaking. I went in October so the houseboat was off the seasoned price. It was a beautiful time of year. Still warm and the water was good temp, we did have some rain, and two really crazy hail/thunderstorms come through. You have to really bury the anchors on the beach to keep the houseboat in place.

Based on how many times I've had to tow my two different coworker's jet skis back to the dock, I'm cooling on wanting one.

Both of them are single, and take absolutely meticulous care of their vehicles. Both jet skis are low hours, and in like new condition.

One of them almost sank his SeaDoo last weekend. He'd just replaced the carbon ring seal between the engine and driveshaft. It came apart after two hours and tore a hole in the boot.

He was barely able to beach it on a mudbank. Engine and battery were entirely submerged in seawater. He spent an hour bailing it out with a 500ml water bottle.

He managed to pack the intake with clay in order to halt the flooding enough to get a guy passing by to tow them back to the dock.

And as usual, the major lesson learned was to go ahead and carry a loose 12v bilge pump so that even if the engine isn't running, you can clip a couple of leads to the battery and quickly empty the water.
