on the 03 TS wagons, 2-point cowl braces do not fit as the bottom holes are not drilled into the frame. fyi.

Well, since Konis are mentioned as an application for WRX's...

Koni inserts in 05+ STi struts:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1276865

Still a work-in-progress, but I've fit the front STi struts w/Konis.. others are in the process of doing the same. The rear Konis on 05+ STis can be done more easily by using WRX struts and gutting them (learn from my mistakes on experimenting with the rear STi struts).

So, a 'hybrid' setup, but you -can- get your Koni inserts on 05+ STis now. Read that entire thread before embarking on the project, it's a bit more work than typical WRX installation... it requires a shop-press, and patience, and much care. Obviously use the Koni inserts marketed for 04+ WRX's (to get the newer rears that work with 04+ rear tophats).

Not sure if you want to include this in the list just yet, but in the interest of completeness, 'there it is...'

I am trying to get this question answered, to no avail....

What years WRX Sedan Axle's are compatible with my 2004 WRX?

'96-'99 Legacy (BD / BK / BG)

'02 WRX struts and springs will fit, so long as you buy '02 top hats for all four corners *and* '02 front spring perches. You don't need to buy separate rear spring perches, since they're built into the tophats. This probably means that '02 WRX coilovers will work without any kind of messing about (assuming that have built-in hats).

Remember! Wagon bits go with wagons, sedan bits go with sedans. Don't mix and match!

Um, I am doing it purposefully to gain negative camber with regular struts without changing strut tops.

Why is it that Sedan axles are recommended? Length difference?

It looks like I just need to know if the car has inny or outty axles. It changed mid-2004 from what I have been told.

Nothing from previous years will fit. The rear suspension is a completely new and different design, so you're gonna have to wait for new 2008 specific stuff to come out.

Updated as much as i could for 2008 WRX, but I don't have many answers there. As we figure things out I'll post things up.

Also updated a few GC8 stuff.

I think the conclusion of the Sedan Wagon Axle thing is that they are long enough that it isn't an issue, at least with the Sedan Steel Axle's.

until this becomes a 'sticky' I don't know what I think about it.

My '05 strut tower bar (ebay) is failing to fit an '07 sedan, and the guy is using this thread as 'proof'

Meh

Meh
front or rear strut bar?

07's usually require a little modification of the AC lines to fit perfectly up front. I'll add that fact in.

Great thread.

Some things you may want to add:
1) Saabaru 9-2x parts. Even though, god forbid, that car is supposedly more on the comfort side than the WRX, some may still consider some those parts as a means of tweaking the balance of the car for certain applications.
2) As titled this is a fitment thread, but it would be nice to know the general differences between model years. Example, 04'+ models supposedly got multiphased valving in their struts, smaller rear swaybars, etc.

Default steering racks?

Miles,

great thread- thanks!

Got a challenge for you all:

I just installed an '04 (I think) sti steering rack in my stock geometry '02 wrx wagon. There was enough thread on the arms that I had about a turn or two to spare. I'd spoken to the guys at Rallispec before and knew this would just drop in. So here is the problem. I also put in a steering pump from an sti. Got it from Steve at east coast scooby (?) in Arizona, and I can't remember if it was JDM or not. So, question is, I hear the sti's switched to an RPM-based assist instead of a speed-based (or vice versa...). Right now, the pump is making weird noises at idle. Could still be clearing the bubbles out- haven't driven it. Or maybe I'm SOL? Both pumps use the same white single-wire connector, so unfortunately no help there (I did of course plug it in).
