We employ approximately 1,000 people throughout the United States and operate manufacturing facilities at our headquarters location in Waukesha, Wisconsin, as well as Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Dallas, Texas.
But WI is a lot closer to MI than NC?

Although with Chicago, you probably have to go halfway to Iowa to get to MI with a load that size.

I also may have a police escort in OHIO so that's gonna likely make it a 2 day trip to go through the state.

Fancy gap on 77N was 20 MPH for 7 miles. There is a good amount of hills going up 77, I averaged 2.9 mpg.
Ah, hadn't thought of permitted routing. Makes sense.

I don't believe the Waukesha plant makes the smaller transformers. Or they didn't have the capacity to make this one.

I may be spending 5 ish weeks running a 13 axle setup hauling windmill parts ( might be blades but im not sure honestly ) out of Menominee Mi to somewhere about 150 miles away.

Should pay decent money since i need to deadhead 1200 miles to Houston to grab a trailer, and then 1300 more miles up to Michigan. Then do the reverse on the way back. Its going to be 13 loads total i believe.

Cool. I see giant windmill parts on rail cars headed east from Denver now and then. They are just immense.

Using rail is cheaper than trucking them since there are no permits, escorts, police, stupid truck drivers, etc.

The job i might get likely came in through the erie canal to the port there in Michigan. We are currently doing a different 63 windmill job in OHIO. They are coming into the port near Gary IN and some are going on trucks and some are going on rail. They still need a truck at the end from the rail yard to the jobsite. One of the guys is getting $500 a day to move 63 loads about 5 miles from the rail yard to the jobsite. The ****ty part is there is nothing around there, the nearest truck stop is like 40 miles away.

Serial hybrid design with hub motors. So cool. The Sno-buggy's wheels eventually were repurposed on Bigfoot IV and V after a stint in the junkyard.

Bunch of similar oversized rigs staged last night on I-70. Beams for a new overpass at Quebec St.

I was recently hauling a windmill drivetrain to a farm in Kenton OH.

150,000 lb piece that connects the blade hub to the generator.

The one road was a little wet and I got stuck. It was my fault and I owned up to it. Apparently they made the road 16' wide and topped it with stone. All the pickup trucks would haul ass through the lake and it kept pushing the gravel further out. I saw that the right side looked higher and had less water.

Well I made a bad choice to favor the right side, it was only some loose gravel from the pickup trucks pushing to to the side. Thankfully they had a bulldozer with a winch and I was only stuck for 20 minutes.

The blades are roughly 200' long and had a lot of curve in them. I had no idea they were made like that.

Would have loved to see a video of you getting rescued by the dozer.

Speaking of dozers, do you haul heavy equipment?
I recently saw a trailer on the side of the freeway with what looked like a dumptruck that had slipped off the deck, and wondered who is responsible for loading the equipment and what happens if there's an issue with the load during transport.
I've seen automobile transport trailer drivers loading the cars at the local carmax, but I can't imagine the same thing applies for heavy equipment as it seems to be a specialty skill. But what do I know.

We haul anything, sometimes it's heavy equipment or a forklift.

Before the crane or whatever leaves you need to make sure everything is ok. If it gets ****ed up by the loading crew then they are on the hook. As soon as the loading crew leaves you are on your own. Anything that happens is on you. If the load shifts because of inadequate securement or anything that's on you.

The only way you don't get ****ed is if you get into an accident that isn't your fault.

Someone's having a bad day.

We've had a couple of days of heavy rain. Assume he cut the corner and the wheels dug into the mud.

Yep, they weren't watching the trailer and if the trailer starts to tip over it will take the truck with it. This is an example of the need for escorts. They likely would not have been able to see the rear of the trailer, but the rear escort should have been telling him what's going on.

100% avoidable accident

I made it to Reno, they should be done with the trailer Tuesday night. I was hauling a felt liner for a new lining in a sewage line for the Reno waste treatment facility. They pull this liner through the old pipe, inject a resin, fill it with hot water and it essentially makes a new PVC like pipe liner inside an existing pipe.

I had 1600' feet of a felt tube liner.

I'm hoping to find a backhaul for the way home. Would be nice to at least pay for my 2600 mile ride back at 5 ish mpg.

If we have equipment that is backhaul friendly we have some help finding loads. With a backhaul I will get 90% of the load as payment. I'm also going to lose another 5% to the lady that finds us loads. She has a lot of contacts and access to load boards.

Hopefully I can make enough off the backhaul to pay for my entire fuel bill. I'm at a big disadvantage though since I'm so heavy. Normal trucks and stepdeck trailers can haul 48,000 easy. I'm gonna be pushing it with 35,000.

I’ve seen a bunch of work trucks this year (crew cab chassis cab with utility or flat beds) based off of Class 5 underpinnings, Ford F-550 and Ram 5500 the most common. F-450s also pretty common, but only spotted one Ram 4500 thus far.

Still waiting to see an example of the new F-600 in the flesh, though.

For her 5% does she bill out the load? Is it net 60? 90?

Just curious.

Not sure honestly, it still runs through the company I'm leased on to so I doubt it. She just finds it for you, which is a pain in the ass and more about who you know.

It may be net 90 I have no idea and it really doesn't matter, it's only gonna be a $1000 or 2 so whatever.

Essentially the same way we haul bridge girders. That was a dual lane trailer ( two 4 sets of tires per axle) but operates the same as a girder.

Go slow and listen to the escorts is all you need to do.
