I have the Corsa catback w/ black tips on my 2018 STI, after trying 4 systems this was the only one that did not drone and provided the OEM+ tone I wanted. Visually, I don't love it but this seemed a worthy sacrifice given the misery of the others I tried. The drone of other systems dominated the driving experience and was all I could focus on. I have had the system for nearly 3 years and will be taking it off next month when I turn my lease in... up for grabs here in SoCal if interested.

What were the four other exhaust systems you had before?
I just put on a Cobb stainless steel cat on a 2019 STI with no other mods. I am very shocked at how much it drones from about 1500 RPMs up until 3000. After reading all the reviews and hearing sound Clips online the conclusion was that this exhaust was on the quieter side. I did use the blue upgraded urethane exhaust hangers. I wonder if I should go back to the stock rubber exhaust hangers in hopes it will absorb some of the Drone. Wishful thinking I guess. The sound is nice I just did not expect so much noise on the inside of the car

Yeah, my GReddy CBE has no drone either and honestly from youtube audio auditions, it sounded better than the Corsa at least to me.

1) SPT - Awful, just made a constant monotone buzzing drone. Terrible in every way

2) AntSpec resinated - Made w/ Remark. Beautifully made, sounds fantastic, but the cabin noise was too much for me

3) AntSpec non-resinated - same as above, but louder

4) Stock - drone + no good noises

Here's a video of a HKS axle back on a VAB STI. I couldn't find any videos or sound clips when I was searching for an exhaust so I hope this helps anyone looking to put one on an STI.

Probably didn't find any videos because most people aren't paying that much money for axle backs with all the other options considered lol.

Unlocked some rumble today

First impressions are that it is a decently loud exhaust, but no drone at all. I will have to see if it tones down a little after the 1,000 mile break in that AWE states. But all in all, pretty happy with the purchase!

One of the main reasons I won't buy this exhaust is because of the welds. If I'm paying top dollar I want my welds to at least look somewhat decent.

I can see that. I bought it for the sound, and no drone. Debated between this and the Corsa for a long time, the sound of the AWE was more enticing.

I have had a Borla on my 2016 WRX for a bit over a year now. It has a Cobb Hi-flow J pipe, pro tuned and a few other standard mods. I love the sound of it...it is loud and deep throaty notes when you get on it, but not too bad when driving normal. No drone. Neighbors definitely hate the cold starts though hahaha...that is LOUD. I'll have to get a vid up on youtube at some point and link.

Currently have a stock 2019 Sti and contemplating between a Q300, Cobb SS or AWE Touring. Wanting to get your opinions on which one would sound best.

I had the Q300 on my old 09 wrx. I don't advise it. I'd get one of the other two.

I have the Borla on my 19 Sti and love it. I don’t think you could talk me into any other brand.

Can anyone rate the following Catback exhausts loudness with a stock DP?

AWE Touring edition
Corsa
Borla S-Type
Nameless 5” Muffler

I’ve been trying to decide between these for some time now and can’t narrow the list down any further. The AWE touring sounds so unique and perfect, it almost sounds too good. It’s honestly more split between the AWE touring and the other three. I have to decide if I want the beautiful sound of the AWE or a more raw sound that comes from the other three. I would like something significantly louder than stock, but have to be considerate of neighbors and don’t want to deal with any drone. I understand that the AWE, Corsa, Borla S-Type don’t have drone issues, but haven’t found much information about the Nameless 5”. From what I’ve seen, the AWE and Nameless are probably louder than the Corsa and Borla S-Type.

How do the Corsa and Borla S-Type compare to each other? And how do the Nameless 5” and AWE Touring compare to each other?

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

I have the Nameless 5" catback that I've since added to with an Invidia catted DP.

The tone is very rich, almost rumbly at very low RPM (e.g. taking off slowly/moderately slowly from a stop).

As just the catback (stock DP), I found the Nameless to be quite a lot louder than stock, but definitely not obnoxious. In fact, after a few months of ownership I found that it was slightly lacking in oomph. It was thankfully not loud enough to wake up my roommates with my early morning cold starts, despite the garage door being right next to their bedroom window. So, certainly not enough to wake up/annoy the neighbours.

Due to the nature of the engine design (less so the exhaust), even with the catback on, the car is pretty quiet when cruising, but will let you know it's there when you give it some beans.

If I were to do it again, and were not planning to put a DP on the car later, I would go with the 4" mufflers, but at the same time, the 5" do fine if you want a modest increase in volume and clean up the tone.

I was also looking at the AWE Touring, and nearly got it, so I think you'd be well-placed to get either. I personally didn't care for the Corsa (nor its cost), and the Borla, was by all accounts from others, "too quiet."

Thanks man! This was really helpful, definitely just narrowed down my search between Nameless and AWE Touring. Especially since I’m not planning on running an after market DP for at least a year or two, it will be perfect.

Does anyone by chance have a picture or be willing to take one; of a Cobb Titanium system without the tips installed?

Trying to get and idea of bumper clearance if they’re are tucked too far forward of the leading edge of the bumper.

Has anyone successfully ceramic coated tips black , that lasted any decent length of time?
