HELP! Baja Turbo Downpipe Question! Fitment! In a jam here!
Hey guys I need a quick cross-reference on a new downpipe for my 2005 Subaru Baja Turbo that i've in the process of overhauling...
What I wanted: - Invidia catted bellmouth downpipe with spare O2 bung for AFR/tuning (apparently they don't make such a version according to the vendor i'm working with.... ) Backup Choice: - Invidia catted DIVORCED wastegate downpipe with spare O2 bung. - Will be using a 18G-XT turbo... hoping the internal wastegate clears the divorced divider plate... MY BIGGEST QUESTION: Will the Invidia DIVORCED wastegate downpipe clear that weird bracket that our Baja's have that is located directly behind the downpipe, along the firewall behind the downpipe? Urgent responses requested as I was hoping to order this downpipe sometime this weekend at the latest... THANK YOU!

I have a titek downpipe installed and i faced the same dilemma when installed my DP. I just removed that bracket you mentioned and installed a strut bar to reinforce the engine bay. I know it is a bit controversial removing the bracket but I have been driving my Baja daily for 4 yrs and there is no difference in feel. I am about to remove this downpipe and install the same divorced downpipe you're going to install.
I think the invidia is going to clear that bracket because the cat looks smaller than the one I have installed. The cat in the Titek is huge and it forced me to remove the bracket. If you decide to remove your bracket, you should install the strut bar just to reinforce that area. We are lucky because other subaru models, brackets are welded to the frame. Baja_Gernaut you are da man!
Okay... I may take a chance and go with the divorced wastegate Invidia downpipe then as my window for ordering parts is shrinking rapidly now. Hopefully it clears, but if not i'm only running a OEM STi TMIC so i can nab a front strut bar for cheap. I really appreciated the response! |

Hey guys what about this downpipe from Turbo XS?
http://turboxs.com/shop/exhaust/359-...downpipe-.html The only worry that I have here is the "massive" bellmouth... But the catted portion is dropped down lower in the piping so... maybe will fit? |

I wish I could go ewg... but it's the daily and that's too loud for me. I thiiiink the turboxs one will fit though. Found some non-nasioc threads that are leaning towards "yes"

Awesome, let us know if it works. The EWG is great for a daily, you conserve gas because you try to not let the waste gate open. Think of it like an alarm.

Yeah i'll definitely report back on fitment/compatibility and with the full build after it's done. About 2 more weeks out but things are coming together now pretty quickly.
And lol never thought of using the EWG that way before! Still considering a setup like that on the bugeye next time I re-dyno. Not in the near future yet though. |

Do you have a 5spd for auto tranny? Did you install the invidia downpipe yet?
Im working on a 04-05 turbo baja with a automatic tranny. What downpipe fits? 02-07 wrx, sti? 05+ LGT? I want to put a Invidia bellmouth cattless downpipe on it but am hearing conflicting info. Thank you, Ian, Quote:

I have a 5 speed. I purchased a catted invidia divorced DP and I am about to install it with the vf48. My friend is installing it this weekend so I will have a better answer but I do have a titek 02 07 for STI installed but i am not sure if it was only for 5 speed. I purchased it from SubieSleeper along with his exhaust a couple of years ago. If I can get ahold of him, I will let you know.

I simply grinded a 2x2 inch cut out of the gusset... 5 minutes and the rub is gone....
That's what she said. |

Still awaiting fitment confirmation of my downpipe (turbo xs v2 bellmouth & catted).
Head repairs were lagging behind schedule a bit but looking forward to buttoning her back up in the coming weeks! If we have a Baja Parts Compatibility Thread i'd be happy to compile of list of all of the parts i'm about to try... it's going to be a doozie! |

Just poppin' back in to update this.
Baja Turbo owners: The Turbo XS (Ver2) catted bellmouth downpipe (with dual O2 bungs) FITS PERFECTLY and requires no modification to the firewall "brace bar" to fit properly. |

Another thing that fits the Baja Turbo is the TOMEI header for WRX / Sti. It fits with no modification. It gets a little close to the oil pan but there is clearance. |

02-07 or 08+ fitment? Is there a difference between the two?

2002-2007 fitment, and specifically the "Version 2" of the TurboXS catted downpipe. Fits like a glove and required no cutting/trimming of the firewall brace to fit.

Anybody know about fitment on this Grimmspeed catted downpipe? Divorced wastegate and cat is down on the exhaust near the flange for the catback.

06 Baja Turbo automatic downpipe
I’m looking for downpipe divorced waste gate. Did the Invdia work for you with no bracket removal issues? I’ve located one part number ending in SW1DPN. Also looking at shift up racing pn ending JPDP15. Anyone know if these will work with no modifications?

You can swap 04 FXT (manual trans only) or 04 STI ECU if you want to use Cobb AP for tuning. Cobb never supported the Baja ECUs. Open Source is also an option if you want to keep the factory ECU. It's a little harder to find tuners willing to Open Source tune now. Cobb has additional features and is much quicker so many tuners are Cobb exclusive at this point. |
