Currently I go to school and work for the Navy at Ft deterick Md. doing paper work and odd stuff for the time being. I'm going to school to major in networking security and I'vew been looking around for a place that would train on the job for a college student and pay atleast 25000 a year. That's what I am currently making
If you know of an open position or you own your own buisness or just have some type of advice it would be greatly appreciated. I'm in my 3rd year at school and so far there's not much to be learned from there. What I need is some one that knows what they're doing to help me out. Any info? Just E-mail me at [email protected] Thanks |

Guess what . . .
. . . the economy stinks and job sites don't work well! Are you or anyone you know looking for new employees? I have a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management. Not necessarily looking to stay exclusively in that field. I have retail and clerical experience, too. Looking for full-time work. All I have is part-time jobs. I can work in almost any field, both blue and white collar. Any help out there?

Job Openings
Anyone looking to perform moderately dangerous/mildly frustrating/physically exhaustive (hmmmm....I really am nuckin futs..) should look into the areas local governments. The starting pay for the areas firefighters ranges between $33k/ to $39k a year. I realize its not a lot, but it is survivable in this area; not at all boring; and doesn't require any previous experience. I have heard rumours that Pr. William, Loudon, and Fauquier Co.s are having a hard time getting people to even show up for tests. I work for the District, and currently we are hiring off of an older list.
Its not the I/T field, but it's a job. Who knows- you might even like risking your life on a day-in/day-out basis( you do drive Imprezas, after all...). P.s.- Its also somewhat stable/long term type work! |

I can attest to what dc.fireman said. I know for a fact, we in Prince William are having a hard time getting people to test, let alone quality people. Of course, that could be because we are a damn daytime fire department & the schedule sucks. But, alas, it's a job. A stepping stone for many, but a job nonetheless.

Just to agree... the job search sites have yielded CRAP for me. Absolutely nothing... I used washingtonjobs, monster, careerbuilder, several others. Never got a usefull lead.
The only thing that worked was finding companies at job fairs and stuff and talking to them directly. Asking friends if they know someone who knows someone who's hiring. Even so I never found a programming/IT job, so after four months I took the gig at Carmax. It's actually not bad so far, if you're going nuts looking for something consider a temporary shift like this, it's better than nothing. |

Okay guys, talk to me.
My buddy has a position for a consultant. The company is Precise ( www.precise.com ). The group is the Storage Management group. While the position is not highly technical (the product is pretty simple), having IT knowledge is very helpful because the customers are going to be IT people and IT management (so you have to be able to talk to both types). Good verbal and writing skills. Precise was just purchased by Veritas - very stable financially. The office is in Reston. A good bit of travel to be expected, including Europe. If you are interested, PM me - if I know you already, that helps. If I don't, I'll want to talk to you before I forward your resume to him. There is more stuff in this pipeline. |

Why haven't some of you tried getting in with the Department of Homeland Security since it has been approved? They will need IT people and VA, DC, and MD are where the money starts out at before it goes to the rest of the states. Something to think about anyways.

man, looks like the I/T field is really saturated out here judging from all the ppl asking about jobs here... I'm glad I quit CS before it was too late now. Good luck to everyone tho.
Anyways, another recent graduate here and I just started looking for a job. Anyone know someone who could use someone w/ a pretty good fluency in Japanese? I lived in Japan for a year and studied here for 3 years, so I can read pretty well too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Work for FBI
I saw on Monster that the FBI is looking for Special Agents. Looking for people with fluency in foreign languages, Computer Science or IT, physical sciences, engineering. I think you gotta be at least 23 and under 37 years old. Sounds like a lot of people on this board fit the criteria.

Part-time work available
I know most of you are IT people, but if you're a college student or looking for some extra money and you love kids and sports, my company is looking for some more teachers right now. We are called SportZtime. We have relationships with different schools and daycares in MD (and coming soon to VA) and we provide sports and activity classes. Our clients range in age from 2-12 years old. Part-time only and pay is $10/hour. Most classes are 1/2 hour sessions with some being 45 minutes.
All backgrounds welcome. Just need to love kids and sports/fitness. Most centers are in the Baltimore/MoCo area. Let me know if you're interested and I'll get you in contact with my boss. Ed |
