Default Fuel Systems

I am trying to find somewhere that sells complete fuel system upgrades, preferably something bigger than a Walbro... Think Aeromotive stuff. I have checked with JEGS, and Summit, but I was hoping someone is already creating them for Subarus... Anyone know of who might sell these?

Perrin sells that kit direct but I will say that the pump is very, very, very loud

What you looking to spend?

I helped setup a fueling kit on a built STi recently and it turned out very well. Basically a single in-tank walbro fills a TurboXS fuel surge tank. Out of the tank are two huge fuel pumps (can't rememebr the part # off my head) Each pump has an external non return check valve and the outputs of these T togther to a single dash 8 steel braided running down the car. Return lines from the front of the car fills the surge tank, surge tank then overflows into the fuel tank.

It turned out sweet but lets just say it was pricey mainly due to the non return valves, fittings and pumps.

Get in touch with aeromotive. I have their prototype fuel rail kit for the wrx going onto my rs soon. It was built very well and I'm sure if you get in touch with them they can help you put the rest of the system together, pump, lines, filter etc.

putting the whole system together isn't hard. You just have to think things through...welding a sump for an A1000/2000 to a gas tank is recommended but not needed...oh, they are also VERY loud...right now I'm finishing up my designs on my double and triple 255 intank.

I wouldn't mind spending the $ if it is done right. I have a GT35R that I hope to get about 500whp out of, but I don't want to have to upgrade my fuel system again if I decided to go faster. I do love Aeromotive's parts, but I haven't seen too much outside of the big V8s. I suppose I can just get a second walbro and run one of these...

If anyone can explain how the above would be setup, I would appreciate that...

It's pretty easy to set up a surge tank and it is well worth it if you have high hp and track your car or drive it hard on the street. Plenty of fuel for a 35R

Here's what my setup consists of

Intank walbro 255 feeds a surge tank
-8AN feeds a Bosch 044 external pump
-8AN line to the front of the car splits into -6AN Axis Fuel Rails
RC1000cc Injectors
Aeromotive FPR feeds into stock return line that goes to the surge tank

We just did a setup on my brothers bugeye. Its twin Walboros with 6 an lines merging in a Y into an 8 an line, 8 an line feeds the aeromotive rails(very nice) and then 8an back to the regulator, 6 an return line to the tank.

It works very well. Good Luck

sounds pretty similar to mine. but y'ing 2 255's to my primary rail and a sinlge 255 to my secondary rails...all -8an because of fuel block availability...running bdl rails with aeromotive fpr's...
fuel block return is 2 -6an to -8an return...
monitoring rail system fuel pressure independently.

quick question I run dual 044 bosh pumps right now , I had one fail and the engine went lean and blew one time. Does any one make a controller that will just shut down if one pump fails?

dan avoN7 setup FTW !!
I researched the Aeromotive A1000:
A pump controller is needed to bring the duty cycle down when crusing / idle to lengthen pump life, otherwise your pump will need an early replacement
The Bosch 044 can be used @ 100% DC and it may last longer.

Surge tank : Speedmachine performance.com ~$150
Pump: eBay, web ~$220
fittings / hoses : Jegs, Summit, ANplumbing.com ~$lots
(get good fittings Earls, Aeroquip, not the generic Jegs or Summit brands!)

I recommend the Teflon tubing/Steel braided lines

Another of my diagrams:
*dual lines from FPR to surge tank: I used stock return line
*dual lines from surge tank to OEM tank: I used single -06 line
*I added an Aeromotive 10 micron after-pump filter, keep your injectors clean!
*don't quote me on pricing... those are ballpark, I'm not responsible if you end up spending all your yearly allowance or if your car explodes (my disclaimer)

glad to help!
that's what the forums are for.... to ask dumbass questions and get intelligent answers

Weeeeeeeeee vsssssssssss weeeeeeee sssssssssssss
That's the noise most big pumps make (except the Weldons but those are mucho$$$) - you get used to it, usually it gets lost amidst the exhaust, suspension, turbo, radio noises.....

I compared my in-cabin fuel pump noise levels of one of my buddies IN-Tank Bosch 044.... I'm pretty happy about mounting the pump outside, under the car.
Serves 2 purposes:
1. "Safer" - not 100% - But .... the HIGH-pressure line starts outside the car, you still have the tank-to-surge tank line. But minimizing high pressure lines inside passenger compartment is always a good thing.
2. Quieter inside car

Take your time deciding, and make a list of parts you will need, draw a diagram listing parts, it will save you time & money in the long run
Good luck !

exactly why I'm monitoring mine individually
having a pump take a dump is a big worry...

Trouble is you have to catch the failing pump instantly or your in the crap.
I want a control board that will shut down or send an ecu signal as soon as one fails.
I have really resigned myself to getting a big weldon pump.

and I have two good friend who design both the electrical and mechanical controls systems for pumping systems

also working on my own meth kit with them.

failsafes are a must

Aeromotive makes one ~$275
Or
1. you can use a Pressure Sensor Switch: out put relayed to Ignition cut. When sensor detects less than your specified pressure use Bosch relay to shut off ignition, problem with this is that in turbo applications the Fuel pressure rises with boost. Better than 12v logic is needed.

2. you can use your Defi warning output so when light comes on - relay shuts off IGN, same problem as above

3. you really need custom electronics and digital logic:
When pressure less than X amount of Y boost pressure
then trigger output IGN cut and/or open wastegate
Just a few Truth Tables, Bolean Algebra, some JK Flip Flops, away

Fuel pumps failing on boost sucks!
maybe it would be a good idea to just replace pumps every 2? years

The pump in question broke on its eighth 1/4 mile run at the 80ft mark, and funny enough its replacement broke on its second run at 1/8 mile. hopefully just a bad batch of pumps replaced the pumps for free but it cost me 5 grand to fix the motor though!!!
Walbros dont put out like the 044 bosch pumps
