Can an ECU which has been tuned with Ecutek be altered with RomRaider? My understanding at this point (totally new to Subarus and the tuning of them) is that an Ecutek software or "framework" is put in to the ECU and within that certain parameters can be changed.

Thanks

Trying to learn how to properly log with RomRaider and I'm noticing some of the parameter names on the ECUFlash forums aren't the same as what's on the latest version of the software. If someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction for some of these parameters it would be greatly appreciated.

* Knock Sum
* Feedback Knock Correction
* Ignition Advance Multiplier
* Boost (several parameters that measure various aspects. Which is most relevant?)
* Final Fueling Base

These are the ones I can't find on the how to log properly page. If there are other parameters that would be beneficial let me know.

I will be logging the following at a minimum:
-engine load
-engine speed
-intake VVT L/R
-IAM
-FLKC
-ignition total timing
-throttle opening angle
-primary wastegate duty cycle
-knock correction advance

Default ECUFLASH Setup Unknown Rom Image Help

Can someone help properly set up the ECUFLASH/walk me through a vehicle download. Is there someone that may do it for a fee, i am not looking for a handout, just can't waste anymore time.

Working on 2008 Subaru Forester 2.5 N.A. AT.

I have installed and rechecked the definitions/directory paths, but keep getting the unknown rom image error after downloading from two different 2006 and 2008 Subaru Foresters.

From reading all the forums, I understand that most models should have already been covered by the existing definitions, and my issue is likely related to improper settings.

I can connect to the car and download the ROM, but get an error Unknown ROM image.

I installed the latest Subaru definitions in the ROMMETADATA from the ROMRAIDER website, but nothing changed.

I even downloaded the latest Subaru definitions from the GitHub, with what seems like more files, but nothing changed either.

ECUFLASH is able to open other .Bin files I found on the web, but not recognizing the one I pulled from my car.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The OP was definitely helpful in giving me some more info on tuning this way, although I'm still new to tuning and different methods, seems more reliable and safer long run compared to using an AP that came with my car.

I bought a J2534 compliant cable for pretty cheap, thinking that I was going to be able to at least read and log data via RomRaider with it. However it is not connecting to my ECU. Does the program require the Tactrix cable to even log data? I don't need a flash, just a diagnostics tool.

Details:
2006 Baja Turbo MT
I have the logger.xml and ecu_defs.xml files in the right spots and up to date.
32-bit Java downloaded and working.

I'm at a loss here! It even connected to my dad's '15 WRX, but no dice on my '06 Baja.

Is the Tactrix 2.0 system compatible with a 2017 USDM Subaru WRX? I have pretty extensive knowledge and experience with the 1.3 cable, tuning mostly Evos with a few WRXs/STis as well but, this is my first try with a 2.0.

Computer is a Mac but, I have installed Parallels and am running Windows 10. I’ve done this with the 1.3 cable for years on a different computer without issue so I’m pretty confident running ECUFlash within a victual machine is not the issue.

Currently I am running ECUFLash v1.44.4870. I believe a ‘17 WRX is a Hitachi 2048k ECU, correct? I’ve done quite a bit of research trying to confirm this but, can’t seem confirm this online. It does seem to be a Hitachi as the CAN selection does not work. I have gotten it to connect to the ECU but, after it completes pulling the ROM it does not recognize the file within ECUFLash?

The other issue I’m having is I can not get RomRaider to connect at all. All it keeps doing is sending the ECU Init but, it comes back as unable to send. I did confirm the cable is showing up in the device manager (Tactrix, Inc. - OpenPort 2.0 J2534 ISO/CAN/VPW/PWM). I am running RomRaider v0.9.4 MAY23 2022.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi, I have EDM 2008 Impreza 2.0R NA 150HP, and i've almost bought Tactrix Openport 2.0...
I've been reading more and more and found out that I would probably won't be able to flash my car, due to lack of car definition.
I've installed ecuflash and I can open some bin files, ofcourse only those that are supported with files in EcuFlash\rommetadata, that is all I can do for now.
I gues that I could connect to my car, even read the ecu but I am affraid (pretty sure) that I won't be able to open and flash it after I've made some changes.
Does someone have any info about any work in progres in that matter? Or maybe there is some one who is willing to do that ecu definition file for this type of Impreza?
