Does anyone have experience with the Rock Steady Tuning kit? https://subietuner.com/collections/s...-and-04-19-sti
I'm concerned to hear about the fluctuations with the penguin kits and wondering if rock Steady suffers the same problems.

Reviving old thread as I’m close to pulling the trigger in flex.

It’s been recommended to me to go with Zeitronix. With custom fuel lines and labor it ends up same cost as the Cobb kit.

What are y’all’s thoughts on Zeitronix?

Zeitronix wont communicate with your AP, i think its just a content display kit. Could be wrong or maybe they have a model with ethanol content output 0-5v for you to connect to your tgv or o2.

They do have one with a 0-5v output.

I'm being told the Cobb unit still has problems, hit or miss, but has been unreliable.

The tuner is recommending the Zeitronix as their experience has been zero problems. I should just listen to the tuner and take the plunge. Their reputation, word of mouth and using google, is that they are arguably top 10 shop in the country. Cobb/IAG Gold Platinum certified, etc, etc.

So, they've got me quoted for:
DW65c fuel pump
Zeitronix E85 kit
Cobb EBCS
Protune/dyno - dual maps for E85 and 93

Anything else that is "cheap" that I should go ahead and do now, possibly save money doing it at the same time?

I used an innovative ethanol gauge and wired it into my tgv connection. Very easy process and works like a charm. They are doing 2 maps instead of a single flex fuel map?
Also 0-5v is correct and your tuner just needs to change a 1 value in accesstuner for it to work

Id do just that then. I wish i hadnt done my jpipe and spent money on it, perhaps even the gs tmic. I hadnt done any logging so i have no idea whether it was needed or useless mod.

Adam99 I think you are misunderstanding him. He is getting a flex tune but it is a dual fuel tune, dual tables, basically two tunes. If you tuned for flex youd know you tune for gas first then ethanol, so it is a true dual fuel map. Flex fuel map is more of a misnomer in my opinion.

No misunderstanding, just asking for clarity. You could argue both ways honestly. You're correct as in most tuners tune for 91/93 and then whatever ethanol content they choose for so you could see it as 2 different tunes.
I'm on flex, you have a group A and group B with many different tables and can choose how they are blended based on Ethanol content. Its still a single map with many different tables. Was just making sure his tuner wasn't giving him a 91/93 map+ a strict e50-60 map

It will be a map that can fluctuate depending on the %ethanol.
My understanding is what you guys have said, basically just 1 map. Apparently takes longer as they dial in the 93 then switch the fuel over to e-85(ish). (I added the “ish” as I don’t think it’s ever truly 85).

Wait... sorry to derail but im confused. How is flex fuel tuned for? I have the cobb flex fuel kit on my build now and waiting for protuning on december... am i supposed to show up with 93 in tank and corn in gas can(s)? Or is it simply showing up with desired corn mix in tank for protune?

Yes show up w 93oct and e85 in gas cans.

Your tuner should have told you so. Also, i think you are better off doing an etune in the real world environment rather than tune in an artificial environment replicating real world environment. Unless of course you dont want to be involved, afraid to do pulls safely or want a pretty dyno bragging sheet. Just my 2c you didnt ask for.

Nah no worries. I did an etune before i melted my 3rd cyl back in may or late april. While i appreciated the involvement i had in the process and communicating with my tuner... it was a bit of a mission to coordinate well times that worked for both of our schedules.

He did my 1st protune for stg1, then that on my full build etune. Now im just gunna let him do his thing on the dyno with this re-build for convenience sake, if im being honest.

While etunes do have their very nice pros, as you mentioned, dyno tuning has been around for quite some time and is fairly reliable as a tool for measuring/testing vehicles in general. The coordinating of communications was annoying due to my schedule, so dyno tuning is pretty appealing since its relatively quick -- within an hour or less with no hiccups.

My shop said about 1|3rd tank filled with straight 93. They will provide the e85.

Said it would take at least half a day if not a full day. They dyno tune then put it in the road, tweak, then I believe they throw it in the dyno for final pulls/parameters.

Thats nice. I am not sure everyone does that which is another reason why i like street tuning (etune). What shop is this if you dont mind?

Motor build by WRXperts and tuning done by Mikey Botti. Had good luck and good work with both of them. If I would have listened to the both of them, i would have never blown the initial built block --- direct port injected meth jet popping off the manifold.

AWD tuning did my flex fuel in May using the Zeitronix parts. It’s been problem free and the tune is rock solid. Keith does an awesome job tuning.
