I saw your post as well. Looks like our cars were just a few days apart. Definitely a fun turbo. Wouldn't mind getting a little more torque like you have. But the 207 is a damn fun engine.

Redline is 8000 and limiter is 8250 on these. Tbh, it pulls hard all the way up. Everyone seemed pretty surprised by how well it held boost. I had asked for it to be more linear than peaky. There's a bit more on the table but I like having room rather than pushing to the edge.

I'm about to get my EJ205 tuned on E85 with a Link ECU and a 20GXT-R.

Had to pull up your thread to take a look. Very nice to see spool on the dyno by 3800 on a 2L with a 20G on pump gas.

I am hoping the E85, Link ECU and blankets and coatings help it spool before 4.5K... Its a 10CM version... and my USDM 205 has no AVCS.

This car seems very fast.

This is a 91oct tune as well. Because the rods and bearings are the weak point (especially the rods) on the 205, I'd recommend asking your tuner for a more linear torque curve to take some stress off your rods. It will help save the bearings and hopefully your engine will last longer. Trying to create too much torque too quickly equals short life span.

Everyone makes a big deal about the 10cm being slower to spool. They didn't have a 10cm in stock when I ordered mine so went with the 8 as a result. It did hold better up top than expected. But that's probably more because of the 207 cam profile.

Your 205 cam profile helps with more low/mid range response. My guess with everything coated, wrapped and 85 you'll spool quicker than you think. Yes AVCS makes a difference, but cam profile dictates a lot of that as well. That's why the 207 has a hard time spooling most turbos below 4000. I won't comment how it will react on the dyno since they are all so different, but on the street I'll bet your power band will be 4000-redline. I know every tuner is a little different, but I wouldn't move the redline past the 7000 OEM limit. The 205 springs just can't keep up especially if you start trying to push past 22psi. I've been told that the cam profile with better springs is good to 7500 though.

When I eventually go +2mm rod hybrid I'm going to try v9 intake cam with a slightly longer duration exhaust cam to help scavenge more efficiently.

The drive home will be a little cautious since I'll have the old 5MT swap and lots of parts in the trunk

I was planning to move the red-line no further than ~7400 - Stock fuel cut is 7200. I am just worried the power-band will be very narrow with the large exhaust housing and no AVCS. And I have heard of people extending red-line out to 7500 on the 205 without issues but I understand the cams/ports aren't efficient past ~6.5K.

My thought process is ~300 RPM more of usable torque may be justifiable if spool is super late, even if it's not necessarily making more power. Especially on pump gas. I am not expecting power on pump gas before 4500, so I am thinking bumping the red-line a tad may be worth it. Especially because I won't be banging off the limiter often anyway, and the motor is going to get built soon anyway (well not this motor, but A motor).

This thread is similar to my setup in a few ways, like the EJ205 (although mine isn't built), the turbo (the 1.5XTR and 20G-XTR are the same turbo aside from the compressor wheel), no AVCS, and it's on pump gas.

Spool was pretty bad.

That cam profile is the main reason that it spools so slow. Those aspects need to be acknowledged when looking at builds that seem similar to yours.

Valve float is the issue with the 205. The cams can handle 7500, it's the springs that have an issue going past 7000 with 22psi+. On pump gas you'd probably end up 20-21psi, but on E85 you might end up around 24psi.

Beautiful power band!
Im currently building an almost identical build v7 ej207 20g Xtr 10cm, 06 sti trans. Killer b headers.

Have you done any upgrades since 2020?
Any new dyno sheets to post?
Are the heads the JDM big ported?

XXX I'm curious why your tuner limited your boost to 20psi. 24-26 psi would have held up with the forged internals.

edit: boost was probably limited by the maf sensor
