Jacked my car up and bent the subframe beam under the cooler help!
So today i attempted my first oil change and i done ****ed up
I own a 2006 sti hawkeye and my car doesn't have a undertray since it broke and i have not fitted the new one yet. I was to eagar when i went to jack up the car for the first time and i sat the jack at the beam going across just at the bumper that holds the cooler and sort of bent it a little in the middle. Its not that bend just a little dent the size of a jack puck, should i be worried that i have compromised some structural integrity or made some major difference to the overall drivability? It didnt feel any different when i drove home from my garage. Yours faithfully A swedish moron

You'll be fine. That won't affect anything. I do suggest buying some ramps. Makes it easier

It shouldn't effect anything but you should be using the designated lift points on the car. There are two on each side of the car under the doors, easiest ones to remember. If those don't do it for there are several others around the car, a quick search on your fav SE should do the trick.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that... but next time you post images here, use the NASIOC image host.

I've never used that area of the frame to hold up or jack the car up. What year and model do you have?

It was a necessity after some image hosting sites decided not to host anymore due to lack of funding. But yeah, upload to nasioc image

I get you were excited, after all working on your car can be a blast, but please for nothing more than your own safety use the proper lift points on the car.

There's actually 100 under each side, the entire pinch weld along the side is a structural rail.
The manual simply shows a point front and back because people are so dumb these days you have to specify something or before you know it someone is making judgement calls and crushes their hand and wants 1.2 million dollars. I jack from the center in the middle of the doors and then I can put both jack stands on the ends at once. Then do the other side the same. No reason to twist the body jacking from one corner. |

1. Use ramps. I really like Rhino Ramps. They work really well. 2. For the front of the car, I use the jack plate just behind the oil pan. 3. For the rear of the car, I use the rear diff. |

The border to Canada is currently closed to United States travelers. They don't need the Trump Virus up there.
