Jimmy you know my dad runs his two mercedes 500/600 SELs(the cars change, been through 4 or 5, but the MS stays the same) for years( i think 5 years now) as daily drivers on megasquirt. that said, i wouldn't trust a megasquirt in a situation where my success could depend on the reliability of the electronics in quite adverse situations, say, someone bumped your car in the 23rd hr of lemans and one of the ignition coils is shorting out on the chassis on left turns. that is instafail on most ECUs but not something very fault tolerant like a motec. stop the short, it goes back to working, not have to change whole ECU or troubleshoot. the motec software is also really good. MS stuff. it's ok.
Blinden it's 55/month on a 2yr contract, no taxes, no setup, no install. no triple dog play or tv whatever, just 15/5 internet. i've had ~3 hrs of downtime total on my fios in the past.. 4 years? and i only paid for the first year? which was 40/month for the 5/2 no setup or install or anything or even contract then.

as i got out of the shower, i heard what sounded like loudspeakers and then a moment later a boom that set of my civics alarm. think it was swat popping off a flashbang or something on the street over, Broad st. 4800 block. swat van raiding the house that's always throwing parties. scanner was all static, and it all happened JUST before dawn. if you see somethin in the news, lemme know, ya?

Your end product is only as strong as it's weakest link. Broken solder joints, crappy UIs, etc. I prefer not to deal with dumb **** like that to save a hundred bucks. If I wanted something cheap that would run, I'd get a used Haltech and save myself hours and hours of troubleshooting. Jason, your dad is obviously not the norm. Check with the FSAE kids and see what the success rate is w/ MS. I bet it's easily below 50%. |

Hey guys. My name is Mike and I am a local suby owner but I never really posted in here. I have an sti short block I'm looking to sell and I thought this would be the best place to start. It had still ran but had a knock when it was pulled out of the car. I don't have a use for it so I figured some one might be interested in using it for a build. If anyone has any interest please let me know. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry to get you excited. I wish I could keep it but I don't have time for a build as I'm finishing up grad school. So it's just taking up space and dad wants it gone. Hope to get to know you local guys and see you around as the nice weather approaches.

Is it good enough for everyone? No. The FSAE people that Jimmy mentioned probably would be better off with a more robust product, statistically speaking. Just like my Stealth Gauge. Is it good enough for 24hrs of LeMans? Hell no. Is it good enough for most Subaru enthusiasts? Hell yes. I could spend more on the parts/design to make it robust enough but then most of that will be considered to be an act in over-engineering since my target audience consists of non-professional enthusiasts. Design must be done with respect to the target audience. Anything else is either over or under engineered. |

Not a copout. Just the truth.
Just by what you said i could tell that you have very little knowledge of MS, and you obviously already have a strong opinion about it. So I could tell that no matter what I posted it would not have changed your mind. |

Here's my Mishimoto radiator leaking in the red car.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSrNJ...ature=youtu.be Tom, maybe you should get a higher quality rad for your 'track car'. |
