2011 impreza head gasket change
I'm sure this has been talked about to death but this is my first time doing this job and any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The car: 2011 Impreza Naturally aspirated SOHC EJ25 with T25 heads bought used with 94k miles and now has 108k miles. Time came for timing belt and water pump service and I noticed discolored coolant in the reservoir as well as some moisture underneath the driver-side head gasket. The question: Which head gaskets do I get? I've heard nothing but good things about six star HG set so I'm leaning towards them. I also found an OEM MLS set that I like. I've heard Fel-Pro's fail so those won't be an option for me. I'll be pulling the engine, having the heads resurfaced by a machine shop if they don't pass the straight-edge test and using a high-grit sand-paper on the block. Iplan on buying new valve cover gaskets but I'm re-using the head bolts. So, any advice for a first timer? Thanks guys links to the parts below: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Head-Ga...EAAOSwMmBVlyQS https://sixstarbernie.com/i-23179113...SOHC%26go%3DGo

Use Subaru 11044AA770 They switched Outback/Legacy EJ25 to that MLS gasket in 2010.
I use it on all EJ25 as long as I have flat heads/block |

I assume that part number gasket works on the 2009 WRX DOHC (D25) engine as well? Hate to piggyback on this, but didn't want to start another thread on the same head gasket.

Great resource for you - you can look up parts by model or use your VIN to find exact fits for your car. This is the same parts systems dealers use to most extent. https://www.subaruexpress.com/ |

Try the tuning or engine sections of the forum here - there is probably info of that type there. I'm not really into modding crap so I don't spend time there. |

I'm not into engine "modding" all that much either... but as the owner of a JDM Impreza STi, it's often difficult to find information on the most mundane of parts.
