Starter fuse location
Car: 2004 wrx
Hi I tried searching the forums but coudnt find a definate answer. Where is the fuse (or relay idk) for the starter? Full story: I was changing my spark plugs and accedentially shorted the neg side of the battery to the pos side. I checked all the fuses under the hood including the main 80A one and they all had 0 ohms of resistance. When I try and start the car, all the lights in the dash will power on aswell as the fuel pump, but turning the key with give me no crank or starter click. The starter is geting 12v at its main cable from the battery and the battery is still showing 12.5V If anyone knows let me know thanks.

You can try looking at fuse #11 under that dash, as that is the engine ignition system/SRS/ fuse, looks like it is a 15 amp fuse.

I checked the fuse its good, I even changed it with a fuse thats known to be good.
What Im looking for is the fuse that controls the starter. |

The fuse that supplies power to the ignition switch and to the starter solenoid is fuse SBF-4 in the panel under the hood. It is most likely alright. You need to check out the safety switch that is between the ignition and the solenoid.

Yep could be as simple as the floor mat getting stuck under the clutch pedal. That does happen.
You can get under the dash and check the clutch switch with a meter to make sure it closes when the pedal is down. There's a second switch for cruise that closes when the pedal is up, don't check the wrong one. When you find it you can try temporarily jumping it out with clipleads and see if the car starts. |
