ok so most people seem to run water/meth injection kits for forced induction motors. is it beneficial for N/A motors?

depends on where you live. I was getting it from $3 - $5 a gallon bulk at the local speed shop. Much higher if you need to buy containers that are prefilled.

methanol is a high concentration alcohol. as such it is hydrophilic, meaning it will tend to attract/absorb vaporized water from the air.

a VERY well sealed all metal container will probably last a long time, but not forever. the only way to really tell is to do a specific gravity test to determine % alcohol content.

in any event, the rate at which it absorbs water is proportional to how pure it is... 100% alcohol will IMMEDIATELY become diluted, whereas 50/50 will take far longer (weeks if not months) to drop to 49/51. another big factor is your relative humidity--if the air is very dry, the process slows down and vice versa.

If you are mixing with water for injection purposes, or even using straight as a secondary fuel, I would not worry about it as long as you are storing it in a reasonable manner and using it within a reasonable time frame. The amount of water it will attract in a sealed container (even plastic) is probably not enough to worry about, as I expect you could not even see the differences in power output, afr, or egt.

Will you notice a bigger power difference with meth/water injection on 91oct or 93oct? I guess what I am asking is, does meth have a max oct boosting capability regardless of the octane used?

Example: (I know not exact numbers) Meth injection = 100oct regardless so with 91oct it increases oct by 9oct but only increases by 7oct for 93oct?

Or: Meth increases octane by 10, so 93 becomes 103 and 91 becomes 101?

hi there i have had a water meth kit for quite some time now and in the begining i was having problems were if i went out for a drive and sprayed it and came back the next time i went to start my car it would barley start so i purchased a selanoid that made so it opens a valve to spray in boost but when you let off it closes so that nothing drips into your engine from the intercooler pipe going into your intake manifold recently my car has been begining to have that problem again even though i have the selanoid still there any reasons you can think of that would cause this?

that just gave me the biggest headache ever ^

Shahin, im not sure what it is as i have not had experience with methanol kits. But if it gets worse you can hydro lock your motor. Better check to make sure the kit was installed properly.

OK I have been reading through some of the posts but way too many to read them all. I have been contemplating going with a wat/Meth kit for a while. Mainly after my car was tuned cause I want a little more Power. I'm just curious if I would benefit from putting on a kit. Here is my current list of mods:
K&n intake
MBC
Invidia dp
Alexis gt-spec exhaust
Cobb AP with dyno tune
From my understanding I would have to have the car retuned for the Meth kit. Is it worth getting or should I wait till later IF I decide to do rotated setup. Thanks

Its an 04 STI currently 312whp and 318tq

It's worth it in the fact that you will obviously gain power due to the volumetric effieciency that water/meth adds. I see that you don't have a aftermarket tuner system IE Accessport, ECUtek, openECU, in your mod list. Do you plan on adding something along with that water/meth? You are going to need to, as you car will not be able to handle just installing water/meth without tuning for it. You will be extremely rich without tuning for it. Let me say this though, with good tuning and good monitoring, it is way worth it, if you are looking for power. I picked up somewhere around 40 hp/40ft/lbs on my first water meth tune. After I did some more supporting mods and a turbo change it got even better. But you have to make sure the tuning is good, and you have a good set of failsafes in your system (most good systems have these options now), so you get the most out of your tune, and it is safe.

Nevermind, I just saw AP tune. It is going to pay off big time when you go rotate mount.

Water Meth will make that big turbo's air charge much more efficient, and you will be able to push the tune further...the thing you have to think about at that point maybe a built motor.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see it till now. Didn't get an email or anything. I'm wanting to get a built motor. Ill probably talk with SR in Tampa since they did my tune and see what they would charge to get me a built motor. Just need to decide what Power range I'm looking for. Ill probably look into doing Meth setup and tune for it then later do the the motor and rotated. I have to get my rx7 finished before I put anymore money into my STI. Gota do paint, haltech, suspension and wheels on it before I do anything else
