That's the plan!! Ordering the guts for the engine this weekend, which is why the project is currently on hold. Springs should be here next week or the week after. But I won't be able to review the Feal suspension valving job until it's running again.

As for now, my F250 is thirsty and diesel isn't cheap

sorry for the long delay in this. The motor did finally let go. I'm waiting on my internals to show up for the new bottom end.

The poor mans 2.1L stroker idea went out the window as I really didn't want to spend $2k building an engine that I really didn't want in the end...because of the stock STi rods.

Would this be considered a long rod stroker? in your opinion wich makes the better motor for a sooby that will be daily driven long rod or short rod all else being =?

^^^Sorry, I must have missed this post somehow.

The 2.1L is just a stroker. A stroker and long rod are pretty much inherent opposites. I do however use a longer than stock rod on 3MI Racing 79mm stroke setups (2.1L or EJ25).

I'll be doing a basic 2.35 (99.75mm bore) long rod build for the DD. I'll be pairing it with an Evo 8.5 turbo and cute little FMIC I picked up used on here.

So time for an update; I finally got some time to rip the rear end and the front suspension ripped out.

In dropping the rear suspension, diff and crossmember I realized the all too expected frozen suspension bushing problem.

This may be a slight indication that your bushings are frozen. Two hefty friends and a 4' cheater bar, I was able to break all but one bolt free (see the driverside outer lateral link bolt)

So I made a quick call to Turn In Concepts and they came to my rescue. I found a few surprise goodies in the back as well
One of them being the new FCar bushings.

I'm hoping to get some time this weekend to press out the old bushings and install the new goodies. I'm also hoping to be able to walk you guys through stitch welding the rear x-member.

I'm quite excited to try out the new suspension something fierce. Between quality bushings that will actually rotate and not freeze and flex like gummy bears under any suspension travel, the Unabomber sexy rear end treatment, and my Feal revalved struts ; this thing will feel like a whole new car!!!

<---tempted to just toss my sleeved 4" bore engine into the car just to test things out

P.S. the beanie fits my ginormous dome piece

Oh to add, I'm keeping a rough running total for the project for those that want to replicate. I'll be posting it for each sub-system's parts break down.

Spoke with Clint today and they're working up a package like I got. I don't know the details but I'm sure they'll keep me posted so that I can share with you guys here.

I've been working it, and I'm trying to come up with a good combo that I think would be good. We already have the sexy rear suspension package which is both TA bush and the lat link bush.

What I'm wondering is what I should put into the "Micah Mush Mix." Here's what I've got:

TA forward
TA rear
Lat link
FCAR bush

from there we start to get into driveline bits. I'm a bit apprehensive about mixing systems in a package as it may confuse people.

When are you going to get one of dem large rod moto's in ya car rofl?

Crap, I need to get on my game to get something named after me from TIC. Maybe something along the lines of "CI's saggy rear end" for the squat and traction I more need

And also for the record, I think TIC should rename their shifter bushing package after me since I can shift like an auto with them

This is getting a long rod. I'm really torn to stick my old Pauter rod, full round 4" bore block into it though I really wanted to start putting some mileage on my new 300M rods. I also need to start guinea pigging rod bearing wear (insert timing) with them as 300M doesn't act nearly as spring like as 4340. That combined with the new piston grown....ugg

Maybe I'll just steel the 35R and engine from the coupe for just a little while

Feel free to send any of that gear my way. Im sure I can beat the crap out of it for you. If they spin a bearing they fail the test since I have never ever had a bearing problem

I did order an extra set that I have actually been heavily debating on sending to you for a spin...if they spin a bearing, I blame your building and tuning

Oh, I send you the instruction on block assembly, assuming you are the lucky one to get them

I'm still wondering how long my poor version 3 RA trans will hold up...open DCCD, 4.44 and an R180; I'm hoping the rear axles take the abuse and not the gears BUT that's just wishful thinking.
