Nice! Since it comes off completely you could paint it the body color or even vinyl wrap it.

Use a flat head screwdriver or something similar to pry the top edge out, from there you can use your hand.

Correct, it is splitting off from the Impreza line.

Default Limited leather

Hey all,

Those w/ leather in their 2012's - have you noticed that the rear seats are much softer/plusher than the fronts? I might be being too nitpicky - overall I love pretty much everything about the car so far (10 days in), but I did notice the front seats being a tad more brittle to the touch than the rears. Is this just due to the organic nature of leather, where certain spots will feel different, or is it by design?

Also, curious to know if anyone's seen a difference between the black and ivory leathers (I've got the SWP w/ ivory). I'm a Sube newb, coming from mostly German cars (3 series, and VW GTI before that), so I'm not too sure what to expect from Sube interiors. Thanks!

I didn't notice that problem. I will say that the leather will soften up as you use the car more. Congrats on the purchase!

I just ordered:

Perrin Perrin Subaru Foam Air Filter
(08+ Impreza & Legacy GT PSPINT110)

UNI Filter Oil/Cleaning Kit (ASM-INT-900)

From Subimods.com

Grand Total with shipping was $66.91 -- which turns out to be just $2.50 more than ordering the air filter and oil/cleaning kit separately off ebay (which had the lowest overall price including shipping but requires two orders from different vendors).

Should be good for 1-2 additional horsepower and a little more MPG depending upon who you ask, but I really got it for the longevity (like the Amsoil and the Fumoto valve) as I plan to service the basics on the car myself and drive it a long time.

I like mine so far, it helped with an extra 0.5 to 1mpg and the engine doesn't feel as slugglish, especially on those unexpected quick take offs to avoid getting smooshed by an 18-wheeler.

Hey 1mpg is nothing to sneeze at, difference between 29 and 30mpg gives you 14.2 extra miles on a tank!

Solid investment IMHO

Default Questions for Limited owners

Hi all,

I have 2 questions for owners of Impreza Limited or Limited Sport (with auto headlights and 4.3" non-nav display radio):

1) Anyone have any complaints about the automatic headlights flashing the moment you drive under a shady underpass, or does the Impreza have a few seconds delay before the auto headlights go on to prevent this annoyance?

2) Anyone using an iPod -- what, if any, controls are locked out while driving? Can you select and play albums and playlists or is that locked out while in motion?

Thanks!

Starting Week 3 without my '12 Impreza, still sitting waiting for new airbags and replacement seats under recall.

Wife is still leaning towards Lemon Law.

Just wanted to stop in and give a quick update on how things have been going with my Premium Sport.

Have had the car for 3 weeks, just hit 1000 miles (I commute too far right now, hopefully moving by years end so I dont have 200k miles before my cars even paid off lol). Anyway, have not had a single issue with this car. No water in the windows, no squeaky seats, nothing. My dealer called me last week to follow up and I couldn't think of a single complaint worth mentioning. Its running perfectly, as a new car should. Getting it tinted this weekend. And hopefully finding time to wax it soon.

I figured it would be helpful to post in here and let potential buyers know that not every one of these new Impreza's are plagued with the issues that most of this forum is spent discussing. Sorry to those who are having problems and I hope your dealer/SOA makes it right for you. I just knocked on some wood, hoping that my impreza stays running and operating like it is now for many many more thousands of miles!

When I drive into a local semi-covered parking lot - it takes about a minute or so before the lights come on in auto-mode. The Outback (wife's car) comes on almost immediately.

Same here. Just got my first oil change and have had 0 issues so far. Plus, my mixed driving (more city than highway) gas mileage is now up to 31 MPG. When I originally bought the car it was getting about 24-25 MPG. The warmer weather combined with the break-in has really improved the fuel economy.

Pulled the trigger and ordered the 2012 SWP Impreza Sport Limited. Going to have 2 2012 imprezas now. One economic and one performance. Who knows how long it will be, my WRX took 9 weeks. Guessing 4-10 weeks.

I am happy for you.
Have you seen the video posted by Xafen?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=APCX-KoDLgs

Can you positively verify that the water getting into the door (there is always some which does get in) gets drained without opening the door?

Can you verify that the hands-free mic works consistently? Blue-tooth works consistently?
How about the fan? Quiet or noisy?

I vote for quiet on 1 and 2 settings, distractingly noisy on 3, and like an airplane motor on 4. Unfortunately for me, I seem to need it on 3 the most because I don't like being directly blown on and 1 and 2 aren't effective fast enough at the combined upper and lower setting, which is the one I like the best.
