There is so much content here it's crazy!

I'm trying to go back to my 03 WRX Wagon. I'm doing my homework and it seems that 04 struts with 04 springs and 04 top mount should work just fine. That's correct right?

There are cheap struts out there (the Excel-G are $50 a piece!!!) but not sure how to find the springs and the rest of the hardware (strut bumber, upper cap...) for cheap.

Thanks a lot!

U would probably be better off buying a cheap "superstrut" assembly from some Chinese mfg like doorman. It will come with the spring and bump stops already installed. I think kyb mfg's a superstrut as well. Won't be oem quality but better quality than a lot of other junk.
02-07 wagon stuff is interchangeable more or less.

If you can sift through the parts diagrams, one of the online Subaru OEM parts sellers has all the little bits.

Or you can do a kit like this which has everything in one order:
https://www.fastwrx.com/collections/...2007-wrx-wagon

Mach V is really helpful, I'd recommend giving them a call.

Thanks guys! I'm trying to stay away from the Chinese stuff as that's what's on the car right now and it's not comfortable enough for the bad Houston roads...

I'll check out fastwrx stuff

Legacy Strut tower Difficulty

I have a 05 RS that I did a 05 wrx swap into and recently blew the transmission!!! anywaaaaaays, im gonna dump more money into it and want to do a transmission swap, while diggin into the endless files of transmission knowledge im currently wondering if I was to do the flatrions tuning 07 swap with hubs and all that are the hubs which are 5x114 and mine 5x100, will the coilovers i have from my 05 rs line up? and if not what who can send me a link to a coilover that works from a 05 rs strut tower to a 07 hub!!!!! greatly appreciated!
Am I putting to much thought into this?

No way around it, you need to do something to fit the 5x114 hubs. If you have a dual height adjustable coilover, you may be able to contact the company and swap the lower mount to fit.

Or take this opportunity to upgrade to a better set of coilovers to match your now much better car.

For top hats, 05 RS top mounts fit a 07 STI and vice versa.

Will 2015+ WRX suspension fit on 2008-2014 OBS/WRX ? I've seen a few pictures and it seems to look pretty similar if not identical. Can anyone confirm?

I'm looking for new/used rear knuckles for my 04 sedan WRX. Do knuckles from a similar year Forester fit?

I noticed Dorman makes full replacements for the Forester but not the Impreza. However visually they look the same.

Does anyone know if the 2011-2014 springs and struts are the same between the wagon & sedan and/or the spring rates by chance?

When looking to purchase oem replacements rock auto has rears labelled as sedan but not wagon lol

Wagon Differences

Struts

The following have a specific fitment for 04-07 WRX and RS, and all spring and strut top fitment with these is the same as it is for the stock struts.

1. Koni Inserts (not a complete strut, see here for install http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1219607)
2. Ohlins Fixed Perch Struts
3. STi Version 8 OEM (2004 USDM STi)
4. STi Version 8 Arai Pink Struts
5. KYB GR2 (now also available in 04+ fitment)

The following OEM and aftermarket struts for 02-03 Impreza can work in 2 ways.

1. KYB AGX
2. KYB GR2
3. Koni Inserts (there is an 04+ specific version too, so you can just get that)
4. Tokico HP
5. Tokico D-SPEC
6. STi/SPT Version 7

Either by using 02-03 springs and 02-03 rear strut top mounts.

OR

By using 04+ style springs, 04+ style rear strut top mounts, and the Scooby921 strut spacer. Details on why the spacer is needed available here:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=563382

Scooby921 Strut Spacer available here:
http://www.turninconcepts.com/produc...=234&osCsid=d9

05+ STi struts will not fit.

Wagons are different, see notes below.

Springs

Springs for 04-07 RS or WRX will fit.

Aftermarket springs designed for Impreza STi will be too stiff for stock struts. OEM STi springs work well though.

To use springs designed for 02-03 Impreza, you must use 02-03 Impreza struts and rear strut top mounts.

See strut section above for spring fitment when using 02-03 struts.

Strut tops and Camber Plates

All 02+ RS, WRX, and STi front strut top mounts and front camber plates will fit the front.

02-03 rear strut tops fit the rear only with 02-03 springs.

04+ style rear strut top mounts require 04+ style springs.

2002-2007 2.5RS, TS, and 2.5i strut tops are softer then both WRX and STi strut tops (which are the same stiffness). confirmed?

WRX and STi strut tops are the same stiffness. STi strut tops are NOT Group N strut top mounts, which are even stiffer.

Camber bolts

All 02-07 Impreza RS, WRX and STi camber bolts are interchangeable and 14mm.

Strut Bars

Front and rear strut bars from any 02-06 RS, WRX, and STi will fit.

Front strut bars for 02-05 Impreza fit the 06-07 WRX but with some difficulty regarding the AC lines. There are a few 06-07 specific front strut bars.

Coilovers

Any complete coilover for 02-07 RS, WRX and 04 STi will fit.

05+ STi coilovers will not fit.

Swaybars and Swaybar mounts/bushings

All rear swaybars for any 02-07 RS and WRX will fit. STi rear swaybars will mount on the outside of the endlinks and their effectiveness is reduced.

04+ RS, WRX, and STi rear swaybar bushings will not fit 02-03 swaybar mounts.

04+ RS, WRX, and STi rear swaybar mounts will fit are an upgrade but require 04+ swaybar bushings.

Front swaybars for 02-07 WRX will fit, except on RS models. Wagons are different, see notes below.

02-07 Impreza RS require a specific sway bar to clear the non-turbo headers. WRX and STi front swaybars will not fit an RS.

Endlinks

Front endlinks from any sedan 02-07 RS, WRX, or STi will fit the sedan. Wagons are different, see notes below.

Rear endlinks from any 02-07 RS and WRX will fit sedan and wagon. STi rear endlinks will not fit.

Other

All rear lateral links and trailing arms for 02-07 RS and WRX, and 04 STi will fit, except from a wagon. Rear Lateral Links from a STi will require rear STi endlinks and STi rear swaybar. Also see notes on wagon differences.

All front control arms for 02-07 RS, WRX and STi will fit. Control arms are aluminum for 06 WRX, but fitment remains the same. Wagons are different, see notes below.

All Anti-lift kits for 02-07 WRX and STi will fit.

Fender Braces do not fit non-turbo models.

2006 Impreza and 2005-2007 Impreza STi use the same steering rack bushings. All other applications will not fit.

WRX Wagon, OBS and 2.5 RS Wagon Differences

Struts

Struts are specific to the Wagon. While sedan OEM and aftermarket struts and coilovers will fit, you will lose negative camber.

This can be corrected with camber bolts and/or camber plates.

The only upgraded struts that retain stock camber are KYB GR2s and Koni inserts in gutted Wagon Struts.

Springs

Using sedan springs on a wagon often results in a saggy rear end. Prodrive WRX springs are a notable exception. Wagon specific versions are available from a few manufacturers.

Swaybars

Wagon front swaybars are shorter then sedan and require a specific wagon fitment. Sedan front bars have been used successfully in certain cases with certain endlinks.

Endlinks

Wagons require wagon specific front endlinks, unless you swap to sedan front control arms.

Other

Front control arms are different. Upgrading to sedan control arms gives you a wider track. It allows you to run sedan a front swaybar, of which there are more choices. It also allows you to run sedan struts without losing negative camber, or you can keep your wagon struts and gain negative camber. You will be required to use sedan front swaybars and sedan front endlinks. It is recommended to use sedan front axles as well, but not required.

Rear lateral links are different. Switching to sedan lateral links requires switching to sedan rear axles.

I know the regular outback and the outback sport are different but I was wondering if you could still fit impreza/wrx suspension on a 2004 outback. im not seeing too many people answering this question even after some digging so I finally broke down and Im asking on this thread.

I usually open multiple tabs on rock auto and cross reference between models. and i learned on my current car looking for stock springs to pass safety that the Impreza strut assembly swaps between both vehicles. And then I remembered my JDM rear hubs for my 4/2 piston swap were from a JDM forester. product DORMAN 698326 , 698327 , 698271 , and 698272 fit forester and Impreza models for 2004 years according to rock auto including both 2.5L N/A and 2.0L turbo models. 06/07 wrx got different rears for the factory 4/2 piston brakes and require the kartboy bracket or hub swap to fit 02-05 wrx or 02-07 n/a impreza

So from my understanding... I can use GR-2 shocks with 04+ Sti springs and will also have to use 04+ sti rear strut top mount even for the front struts?
