EcuFlash won't open
I just downloaded and installed all associated programs and files needed for the use of my new Tactrix cable 2.0
I went into my car connected the flash connectors plugged in the Tactrix to my lap via usb port tried opening EcuFlash and windows gave me a pop up saying 'ecuflash has stopped working' and closed it down. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times even trying different locations for the program and files. I'm running Windows Vista. TIA

Well Vista was one of the most buggy OSs produced by Microsoft when they were still getting the privilege management features sorted out.
If Vista has got run as administrator then use that to install and run Ecuflash and see if it helps. Otherwise, use XP or Windows 7. |

Easier said than done for me.
I did try opening it as administrator with no difference. |

I should also note that RomRaider works fine.

Thanks but his problem was different. My ecuflash program won't open at all. I haven't even gotten to the point of connecting to the car.
I did try a really old laptop like 10 years old laptop and ecuflash opened up no problem BUT I would rather use my newer laptop because the other one needs to be plugged into an outlet to stay on |

Likely a windows issue and not ecuflash at all. Have you updated all your drivers, especially all the windows drivers as well as video drivers. There is a program thats free for download that will tell you why your last run program crashed. After work ill find it and link it.
Try booting up vista in safe mode WITHOUT networking and see if it will load and run that way. If it does its definately a windows or video driver conflict. |

This is a standalone application, it requires no install. Just run it after the crash and it will give you all the info to troubleshoot it it. The .dll file list is the drivers involved when it crashed.

Update
I know this thread is very old, but it was one of the few I found when searching "ECUFlash won't open" and I was able to solve my issue, so figured I'd post my resolution here. I use a computer that has dual monitors at work. Occasionally, I remote into it from my cellphone to poke around in ECUFlash. I have found that when I do, if the ECUFlash window was last opened on my secondary display, it will not show up in the remote desktop window, even when closed and reopened.
Also, I have a desktop that is plugged into my living room TV and a monitor (it is in my basement) that are mirrored; I also connect remotely occassionally from a different PC, which has two monitors. After working remotely in ECUFlash and closing, I could not reopen without first remoting back in and moving the application to a different monitor then closing. I even tried reinstalling without success. Very strange. Hope this helps someone! |
