EJ20G 1998 wiring diagram
I am transplanting a JDM ej20g and matching MT into a Porsche 914. I have the entire front of the car wiring harness including ECU and want to strip down just the minimum required to run. I will mount my own relay panel.
The ECU is a 4W pn 22611 AD412. AFIK this is from a JDM 98 Forester with MT. I am unable to find information on this anywhere. My problem is that I can not find a wiring harness diagram. I have copies of may Impreza wiring diagrams, both domestic, Austrailian, and JDM. The color codes for the pinout are very different that my ECU. The ECU has 3 yellow connectors with 26, 22 and 16 pins. Additionally, I will not be subject to emissions on such an old car. Can anyone show what "stuff" can come off the top of the engine to clean it up? I could also be interested in a 2S 22611 AC731 pinout. I have found one for sale in archives and the wiring is very similar to the 4W. I believe the were both from the EJ20G. The 4w was from the Forester and the 2S from the WRX wagon (non-US). Both use the EJ20G with the TD04. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Alternatively, Is anyone interested in an entire front JDM wiring harness and ECU? I am " this close to dumping it all and installing a standalone from scratch. Last edited by jpnovak; 09-10-2010 at 08:50 AM. |

I have a wiring diagrams in English for you (and in Japanese aswell) in PDF format. Send me a PM with your email address. I recently figured out that the pin out and wiring is the same for EUDM and JDM 1997-1998 turbo cars (GC8).

The wiring harness is from the same forester as the ECU? I assume then that the ECU is a 3-plug variant?

Yes, the ECU is a three plug and is from the same car. I have all of the under dash wiring (about 60 pounds of it) including the main relay/fuse boxes, dash connections, light connections etc. I have only found two places where it was cut and I assume these go to the rear of the car (tail lights). I was very pleased to have a complete package.
Here is the wiring out from my 4W ECU. This can go into the archives once the problem is solved. Last edited by jpnovak; 09-09-2010 at 07:06 PM. Reason: fix picture link |

The ECU that was for sale in this ad has a very similar pinout. However the wiring colors are different. It is possible that the circuits are the same and the wiring color is different.

yeah its very similar to a "k" ecu
colors are more of a suggestion with Subaru wiring than a rule you need the pinouts for a ej20k |

Thanks Rob. I compiled this list with my other diagram. What is this pinout from?
I think there are many things I can eliminate. The question is... I have a few wires that are not identified in this output. As far as I can tell, all of the main functions are in place. I might be able to leave those extra wires disconnected. |

An 22611AD412 ECU? I have a spare one. Send me a PM if you're interested and willing to pay shipment from Europe.

Ok, I'm resurrecting this from the dead sorry. I have the 4W ECU & am currently looking into my options for a stand alone. Was it found here that the 4W is compatible with the EJ20K ECU?
I am looking into something like this. http://store.haltech.com/usastore/pl...97-98-usa.html as well as the ViPec version for 97/98. Wanting to know if they will work with my '97 4W ECU |

There are basically 3 types of ECU for the pre Bugeye turbo's.
4 plug (96 and earlier, V1-V2) 3 plug (97-98, V3-V4) 3 plug (99-2000, V5-V6) The enormous amount of different ECU types using the same physical connectors is just because of specific mappings available for different countries/gasoline quality etc, but as you'll be working with a mappable ECU those are not of concern to you as you'll only need to find the ECU which connectors physically fit your loom. The first one is pretty obvious, if the ecu has 4 plugs it's a 96 or earlier. The difference between the 2 3 plug types is that the later models (99-2000) have much more pins per connector.. The V3-V4 have 3 plugs, containing 16,22 and 26 pins respectively, all in 2 row pinouts so you'll end up with thin narrow connectors The V5-6 also uses 3 plugs, but they each contain 32 pins, and they are much higher and narrower physically , and arranged in a 4x9 pin format. There are pictures of the connectors in the link below. http://www.jollygreenmonster.com/pinouts.htm Do you plan on selftuning or going to a shop?? It usually is best to go with the ECU the tuner has experience with IMHO, so I would consult him as well. Also ,seeing that there are more then enough PnP ECU's available I would not bother with the Haltech (again IMHO) Last edited by Dutch Scooby lover; 03-16-2014 at 09:09 PM. |
