Default Was the RIAA told to learn to compete

A friend of mine told me that the RIAA was told that illegal downloadng is competition and that they need to find a way to make their product more appealing.

Is this true?

when you're competing with FREE, it's probably a losing battle.

nate, not really. You get what you pay for. I download movies all the time, but i end up buying the DVDs when they finally come out becuase they have the special features and don't look like someone used a 1980's vcr/camera combo to record it.

The RIAA should be going after the REAL criminals who actually try and market their copies as the real thing...complete with DVD quality and retail-looking packaging.

Since the RIAA doesnt have enough balls to go after the bigger fish overseas, they pick on the nerds who want to watch star wars 3 days before it comes out. These are the same nerds who line the corporate pockets buying the merchandise, all versions and reversions of the DVD limited time only box set, etc etc.

I think there may be some confusion about the issues at hand.

Yes. I sent them an e-mail stating the above.

The problem with the RIAA and MPAA is that they've spent so much time fighting technology instead of embracing it that they've hurt themselves even more.

If it was completely up to RIAA and MPAA we'd still be on records and 8mm reel

RIAA is like the UAW. They like to suck the life out of anybody they can, and it doesn't matter how much it cost them.

Now get back in the GM strike thread so you can continue to receive the ass'whoopin' you are getting.

They're all just a bunch of punks trying to bully their customers to buy their product.

I blame the unions!!!!!!

j/k

many people and organizations have called upon the RIAA and its members to embrace the Internet and the new technology but they refuse to and insist on fighting a losing battle.

Why pick on the OP outside of the union thread?
