I guess Nostrum moved production in house recently on some of the products, I would run it see what happens.

The pumps issues were over a year ago, things could have changed.

Tuner says he loves the Nostrum pumps. Installed it and so far so good. Only been a few hundred miles but we’ll see

I was one of those VA cars at that meet.

The Works are my backup wheels, my SSRs decided they wanted to break face bolts last Wednesday.

Default New Member - 2005 STi

My son and I just bought a fairly mint 2005 STi and couldn't be more excited to be part of this group. We flew to Philly and drove it home last Monday.

We have an appointment booked at Flatfour next week to let Matt go through all the required maintenance. The car has 92k miles on it so I'm planning on starting with a compression test, plugs, gear oil, timing belt, oil and maybe a water pump. Brake pads/rotors and accessory belts were done recently.

I hope to see some of you at the upcoming get together in Bloomfield. In the meantime, looking for recommendations for a top notch detail guy who might be able to get some water spots out of the clear coat without damaging it. Also interested in hearing an Invidia Q300 cat back on an 02-07 if anyone has one locally. Thanks!

Great to hear. 2004-05 are the best in my opinion. Only years for the blobeye. Hope to meet you on the 17th. I'll be the old fat guy in the WRB 2004.7 STi.

I know a guy for detailing - Detroit Detailing on IG.

Reason I asked is I remember walking past a car with trunk open and remember air tank, but not the color or anything else about the car. Sad, I know, but I blame it on Covid.

Matt is a great guy and loves older GDs

I second Detroit Detailing on Instagram

He has been a legend in the detailing scene around here , He has a very very nice red S2000 as well.

Went to Classic Appreciation in Rochester today. Unfortunately there might not be anything I can do about what I thought were water spots. Whatever was on the paint went through the clear coat. So sad

Might have to find someone to paint the roof. Possibly a little more. If you know of a good paint shop please let me know. Thanks.

Will anyone be showing up at the JDM legends meetup next weekend or will you be waiting for the Subaru get together on the 17th? I would like to meet all of the people on the forum, see your cars and learn about how to take care of the one we just bought. The 10th is open right now but I'd have to move some things around to make the 17th. Also, didn't see either of these listed on High Octane's Facebook page or their web site but I assume they're still on. Thanks!

The 17th is more of a Subaru only day , the 10th you will see literally everything.

I plan on doing both events and will be there at 9am sharp as the JDM Legends meet gets full really quick. Its one of the best mixes of classic and modern Japanese cars I have seen in a long time. Last time there were all sorts of cars including a Motorex R34 GTR Vspec 2.

High Octane uses facebook for all of their events , Each event is a Saturday morning at 9am. I will be at both of them look for this car

Default Subaru Meet at High Octane

We took our new (to us) 2005 STi to Flat Four yesterday to get a good PM done so we won't be able to take it to the meet on Saturday. Still hoping to meet some of you there.

Hi all, looking for a manual trans specialist. I live in the Canton/Plymouth area but willing to travel within the metro Detroit area or a little beyond. It may not be trans nor clutch (could be a part of), maybe someone can give me an idea of what it may be...

Having issue with clutch pedal or something. Have looked through the forum for answers, with no luck so am here. Some background, 07 wrx (129000 miles), stage 2/2 1/2?, comp clutch stage 2 w/ lightweight flywheel (changed at 105,000 miles), stock trans. Trans fluid changed 10,000 miles ago. Never have I ever dropped the clutch, if anything I have lifted my foot a little too slow, once in a great while. (UPDATE: come to find out my son tried to dump the clutch the day before, but only at about 3500rpm and says it just bogged down and did not even squeal the tires.) one more thing, just returned a week ago from a 2900 mile road trip, no issues.

So after getting half way thru a 3 hr cruise on the back roads I found myself at an intersection in which I couldn't get the car in gear for nothing. The pedal was sticking about a 1/3 of the way down, but even after pulling up numerous times, couldn't get into gear. you could push the pedal down the 1/3 with no resistance. Clutch fluid was to the top. After turning the car off and letting sit for about 10mins as soon as I started, the pedal was up, so started home. The clutch would not start to disengage until the top 1/3 in each gear. If cruising and I accelerated it would act like I was pushing in the clutch halfway (like an automatic slipping).

Anyone have any ideas what I'm looking at? Any questions? Thanks.

Could be a few things, 1st thought is throwout bearing, 2nd is pilot bearing. 3rd could be clutch slave cylinder. Wish I had room in Romulus to take a look for you. But ideas above. Flat Four is in Troy, give them a call.

Yes Am aware of them, even recommended them to plast1man. Didn’t know if they would be the right choice for trans issue. Good to know. And thanks for the ideas. Wish I had a hoist.

Default 2005 Silver STi Project Update

Wanted to keep the conversation moving so thought I would post an update. The silver STi is running great but have a few lights to figure out after getting the car back from Flat Four. Airbag light is on so I'm hoping it's just a matter of checking some connections under the seats, dash, seat belts. Tried the ones under the seats but no luck yet. Also have the battery and rear diff temp light flickering occasionally so I'm wondering if one of the grounds doesn't have a clean connection after Matt put the engine back in.

We got all the maintenance up to date with gear oil, timing belt, radiator, water pump, valve cover gaskets, O2 sensor, MAF sensor replaced. Planning to install a new turbo inlet and BCS this weekend. In general we've gone through the Subaru mid-life refresh top to bottom so the car should be in great shape.

My son wants to keep the car stock as it's never been tuned or modded but I've convinced him to try a cat back exhaust just for fun. Had someone on the MiSubie forum give us an Invidia Q300 that we polished up with some Blue Magic metal polish. The tip was covered in black soot but it looks brand new now! Hoping to throw that on next weekend. Man these cars are fun to work on!

Ciao!
