I'm struggling to understand how the louver size relates to cooling. Part of me wants to say, larger = better, but the other half of me thinks that smaller = faster flow. If the pressure differential is the same. IE underhood pressure to above hood pressure is the same differential, say 20 psi. I want to say that a smaller hole would have a higher velocity. I think this is Bernoulli's Principle. Now is the net net cooling effect the same? No clue. Quote:
Thanks!

There is a seal at the back of the hood but theret is also the hvac intake which means it is a high pressure area. Definitely do not remove that seal or you'll end up with more pressure under the hood. |

Bracket is done! A video following how I made this will be posted next week. In the mean time, which way should I mount the shiftx3? Tach up or tach down? IG: instagram.com/racecarwrx Youtube: youtube.com/c/racecarwrx |

Youtube: youtube.com/c/RacecarWRX For those who are interesting, a rather long video of me making a bracket to mount my Shiftx3. The wiring video will follow next week. FYI the Shiftx3 requires an Autosport Labs datalogger. The wrx currently equipped with an Autosport Labs Racecapture Track. |

Shiftx3 Wiring video! 4 wires: Can High/Low, 12V power, and Ground. All the wiring is done under my seat because the datalogger is already there, so I tap into several pre-existing positaps. For reference, the datalogger is positapped into the can high/low wires running out the back of the OBD connector. |

A little more can bus fishing last night. Decoded the TCS lights on the dashboard. Everything is mapped into the datalogger to capture traction control status, and whether or not stability control is intervening.
Can ID: 211 Bit Mode (NOT BYTE) "Traction Control" - does not have a light on the dash. However, trac mode or traction control is completely disable, this value goes to 0. A value of 1 indicates the system is full active. Offset: 31 Length: 1 "Trac Mode" - a value of 0 indicates the Trac Mode light is disabled, meaning the car is not in trac mode. A value of 1 indicates the Trac Mode light is illuminated, and the car is in Trac Mode. Offset: 4 Length: 1 "Traction Off Light" - a value of 0 indicates the Traction Off Light is disabled, meaning the traction control system is ON. A value of 1 for Traction Off Light, means the Traction Off Light is illuminated and Traction Control is off. Offset: 12 Length: 1 "Stability Light" - a value of 0 indicates the Stability system is not intervening. A value of 1 indicates the Stability light is on, and the stability system is intervening. This value will flip from 0 to 1 rapidly when the system is intervening. Offset: 25 Length: 1 Quick little demo of the Racecapture software mirroring the traction control system dash light changes. |

Do you have access port datalogs from any of your track events, preferably one with higher ambient temps?
Ran a pretty hot event last weekend myself and Im interested in how your intercooler, rad, oilcooler compare to mine. |

Uofime, I actually had to dig around but I found one. Unfortunately, I was not logging oil temperatures, however I can tell you oil hit 270F. Coolant, intake and manifold temps are inside the log. This was without an oil cooler and on 91 octane. If I remember correctly, installing a cooler brought my temps down into the mid 250s. I'll try to find a log for that event, but I have a feeling I didn't save it. Crazy to think my coolant temps hit 237F in this log. Oopsie.... I install some Verus Engineering rear toe arms. The install is easy for anyone who is familiar with wrenching on cars, but hopefully others just dipping their toes find it helpful. I think one of the bigger topics covered is why you would choose a turn buckle style toe adjuster, and why you would choose a monoball rod end vs a rubber bushing. |

IG: RacecarWRX Fastest lap from Laguna Seca!! Definitely room for improvement here, and the car was cooking the rotors. Pad were just fine, but the rotors developed so grooving and I was experiencing fade. There room to clean up my pedal work, nail braking points, and work on my line. But all in all, a once in a lifetime chance to drive on a childhood dream track! |

Youtube: youtube.com/RacecarWRX Here is a snapshot form my helmet mounted GoPro from Laguna Seca. The Shiftx3 is displaying my real-time performance compared to my theoretical maximum G. If the entire row of LEDs is green, I'm using all my maximum available grip. If there is some red LEDs then there is some grip left on the table. |

Nice build and subscribed!
Do you still run TMIC? Is there reason you didn't go ahead with front mount i/c? And make the top mount for another cooling with radiator? Have you thought put this car into race only car? I saw you still keep AC and so on. I wonder how amazing this car would be if you delete all of those weight out of this car. |

I'm part of a group but not sure if it's the one you are referring to. Alot of the cars there are full race, super cool and inspiring.

As for stripping out extra weight, I don't think I'll do that anytime soon. Maybe one day the car will get there, but for now I still enjoy the fact that I can carry 4 people, listen to music, run the AC, and have a full trunk of luggage. I really enjoy riding that fine line that is super inherent to Subarus, a sorta do do everything car. There are some mods that have limited it's usefulness, brakes without boot (no salt from snow, but I have a hatch for that) and the bucket seat and brakes can be give aways but they haven't limited what I can do with the car. |
