Not sure if this is the thread but looking for a local shop to do some interior work - new carpet, seats recovered, etc. Trying to lose the wet dog smell...

Great suggestion for Window Tiniting. Good pricing ($300 for 8 windows) & work. They only use the best material. They are contract out to most window shops in the area.

You can order pre cut ones here on nasioc and apply yourself or I am sure any local tint shop can do it for you.

Re: Oil - that article on Ferrari Chat doesn't exactly apply to Subaru Boxer engines, certainly not the oil pressure, nor the recommendations on Viscosity. Been reading BITOG and looking for UOA for Subarus - it's known fact that turbo boxers shears weak 30 wt (xW30) down to 20 wt (xW20) over time, and fuel dilation is high so that kills oil as well. Might want to point a few additional articles that applies to Subaru specifically (maybe a few threads in BITOG). The magic threshold seems to be around 5K miles (8K KM) which is esp true for turbo motors, when the wear numbers jump.

And I still couldn't decide between GC 0W30 (which are still hard to find) or some other brand in 0W40 / 5W40. No M1 5W30 for me for sure as I wanted extended OCI (oil change intervals)

Good info, but you should provide the links. The mods aren't going to go searching for them.

You know what - we need info on what good oil available where.

Just went to Canadian Tire @ Ironwood - the only thing I see that I would use on a turbo boxer is Castrol Syntec 5W40 which a European formula but only SJ. SM is better for the cat, if you still have one. No 0W30 nor M1 0W40. Anyone confirmed that Walmart still sells German Castrol Syntec 0W30?

Datasheet for Castrol Syntec: http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...syntec_usa.pdf

Specifics
Syntec 5W40: API SL, ACEA A3, 14.0 cSt (VOA showed 13.73) @ 100°C, VOA TBN at 11.1.
Syntec 0W30: API SL, ACEA A3, 12.1 cSt @ 100°C.

what a coincidence, i just brought my axleback today to http://www.quietmufflerandbrake.ca/contactus.html to get it fabbed onto my wagon. they only took 10 minutes to do everything. i searched the local forums though with 'exhaust shop', but i would only recommend them if it was for simple extensions, etc.

i'm sure there's another one in richmond though that would do more professional work if you wanted quality ----> hoegler's or something like that?

actually now that i think about it, the place i advised "quiet muffler and brake" had this judgemental a-hole working there in overalls.

the attitude in that place wasn't that good now that i think back. i called ahead of time and they told me no need to book a time, first come first serve. i brought my car there and explained my problem. the guy starts making comments about how much dings i have on the axleback (it's 2nd hand) , then says someone installed it improperly and it does not fit, and that it wasn't the right axleback on my car (STI axleback). well no ***** sherlock, i was getting it to you guys to fix it in the first place.

they 'fix' the problem ten minutes later and said they put stiffer hangers on it, so charged me extra. i look under the car the first thing getting home and all they did was just weld the centre bracket holder thingy more up and therefore pulling the whole exhaust lower. so it doesn't hit my swaybar. it's still on the stock hangers.

i was so relieved that i got axleback on correctly i didn't really think about my overall experience at the place. i wouldn't really recommend the place at all. it seems like one of those places that works only on domestics, votes republican, and keeps the art of inbreeding alive in north america.

^ I totally agree with you bro.
I had my exhaust installed there, and their attitudes were so cocky. They were like "So you're going to install this muffler in replace of that!? I would rather keep the one you have right now than to install your new one, but whatever"

I'm like . . . yea. ... plz keep your comments to yourself.
The quality of their install was quite ****, but they did the job for $50.

Richmond hoegler's muffler had excellent quality on my recent installs, but the install of the muffler would had cost me $120.

yeah the quiet muffler and brake guy is very shady, i heard about him through J-chow and he heard about him from another vic member. When i went to get an estimate he said he's seen a few of these cars but doesn't know how long it would take to do it and proceeded with his i know my american cars much better stuff and it might take him longer than normal.
