Default Please help me finally figure out this noise (Video)

You can hear the tapping the best when I put my phone in the wheel well and under the car.

Car has been at a shop frequently for maintenance, valve cover gaskets done, knock sensor replaced, fuel lines all replaced, plugs replaced, coolant serviced, timing service done, technician even ran a knock stethoscope while driving it to try and diagnose some low load knock and never noticed or mentioned a problem or noise at any of these appointments so I'm thinking if it's serious he would have heard it at least once and said something.

Only happens at idle when the car has been driven and is warm, isn't perceivable while driving, only happens near cylinder 3 and doesn't always happen. Oil is 5w40 motul xcess, car doesn't consume oil, oil is changed every 2000 miles, full timing service recently done.

Doesn't act like rod knock, it goes away when you rev it and it doesn't come back until idle.

Car drives perfectly fine besides this. Currently doing E tune through torqued so I'm doing wot pulls frequently for data logs and noticing no issues.

That was my thought as well, is this something that needs to be repaired asap? A valve job would basically require a rebuild so if it's not a huge deal I can live with it.

Yeah, I got quoted 13 hours labor for a valve adjustment. I might have to shop around.

yeah, its almost easier to pull the engine than it is to work on the engine in the car.. gotta love the horizontally opposed engine

I'll probably just drive it as is and if it pops it will give me an excuse to put a built engine in. I can't imagine valve clearance issues will cause serious problems but I don't know enough about Subaru valve trains to say for sure.
