DIY: EJ22 NA to Turbo Conversion
Hello All,
Ive had 12 subarus over the years, and done multiple swaps including gc to wrx conversions, auto to manual swaps, jdm ej207 swaps, and na to turbo conversions. The questions that I still get asked the most via PM on this site or facebook, are about the ej22 turbo swaps as a lot of info is either buried in a 80 page thread or just doesnt exist. I made a video to outline all of the na to turbo swap with every issue you may encounter and will update the channel as the build progresses. Feel free to add questions here or on youtube. Appreciate your time and happy swapping!

This is very relevant to my interests, since I currently have a 90 legacy with a blown hg and a rotted out 03 WRX that runs great. Following!

I actually did the NA/T build on my outback before I swapped to wrx stuff. Personally, I'd recommend doing the actual wrx swap, as there's much more support, tunability and jsut everything in general, and so many issues with na/t

Ive done a GF8 > Wrx swap, a GF8 > V8 EJ207 swap, a GC8 EJ22 NA/T and a GF8 EJ22 NA/T. Ive also owned a bugeye, and an 06 sti. After owning all these and doing these swaps, the EJ22 NA/T is by far the easiest, most rewarding. The ej22 is the strongest motor subaru made, IMHO, and the V8 EJ207 is the closest to that. The NA/T conversion close me 750$, 7hrs worth of work, and I have nearly double the hp. Nothing comes close to that kind of pay off. The original wrx swap I did, left me wanting so much more and was wayyyy more difficult. |

What type of gas are you using? TD04? Intercooler? What’s the safest Psi for the motor? How many gains in HP? Wiring? How do you regulate how much psi you’re going to use? |
