Default Fantasy Football War Room 2020, Year of Covid

As of now, the NFL season is proceeding. So are my fantasy leagues. I haven't done a lick of research and I have a draft today.

I've watched some of the Fantasy Footballers but really haven't paid a whole lot of attention to fantasy **** this offseason because I just assumed they wouldn't be able to make it work.

Literally drafting right now on a last minute team of which I've done no research. This year will likely go much better than usual

I'd def keep Fournette. He's no longer with that terrible Jaguars team.

I don't mind it. Think you're slightly lacking in RB. I'd even say I'd roll Jones before Hunt

Yeah I'm not sure what I was thinking with Hunt. I took him way too high. Saw a big name and jumped and didn't even really think wisely about it. Probably will start Jones Week 1. Thanks!

I'm participating in all my free leagues but I won't be paying for those that are paid leagues.

I just don't have the confidence that we'll get a full season or that this will be a fair year.

Compared to what? Any other year when any given week a top 3 guy on your team can go out with a season ending injury?

Was all set to keep Kamara, now I am not sure with him possibly holding out? Only other option is Nick Chubb.

And I have the 2nd pick.

2nd pick and you were gonna go with Kamara?

No. Keeper league and I have Kamara on my roster as a possibility to keep along with Chubb. And I have the 2nd draft pick in round 1.

Saints would be stupid to not pay Kamara. Mixon just signed a 48mm 4 year deal.

Agreed! But will they do it soon or after he sits out 3-4 weeks and I can't use him?

How is injury the same thing when the very real possibility of a bad batch of tests causes a team to sit out players or even coaching staff.

How many false positives happened just this last week alone? Hint, it was in the 70s.

Also, what do you do if games have to be cancelled and you have some teams playing 16 and another only 14-15?

This is gonna be an interesting year, that's for sure.

Embrace the chaos.

I think the biggest possible headache this season will be if there's a big enough batch of positives to postpone a game. I don't think games will be out right canceled but instead moved to a later date.

I don't know the testing procedures but I'd imagine they have to get cleared that morning or perhaps the night before? For Sunday games that'd give fantasy players enough time to make necessary adjustments.

Some podcast posited the question "what if a Monday night game gets postponed ON Monday and you have players in your line up and they are locked in?" It'll get tricky there, I think the best answer I heard so far is that that weeks results will be on hold until that game gets played.

Everyone playing fantasy has the potential for guys to be affected by this so in the terms of things being "fair", I don't think it's any different than any other season.

In a keeper league 12 teams .5 ppr

Leaning towards keeping Austin Ekeler.

Other options are:
Miles Sanders
Melvin Gordon
Adam Thielen
Davante Adams
DJ Moore
Marlon Mack
Kyler Murray (my homer pick)

I mean what is the cost of keeping each? Davante Adams seems like the no brainer to me.

Gonna have to agree about Adams. I hope Eckler has a big year but you never know with their new QB and coaching situation. Green Bay has the same personnel.

This is our first year of doing keepers so I am not 100% sure. I believe if you don't keep someone you get an extra first round pick (not sure if it is at the beginning or end).

Davante Adams was my #1 pick last year but for some reason I am not as high on him this year, but you are right I should consider him more.

Ekeler was doing amazing until Gordon came back. He still ended up as the 6th highest point total back in our league despite the time share. I figure with Gordon gone he might be even better this year.

You typically have a rule for keepers. You get to keep them for the original draft round pick - 1, 2, 3 rounds. And typically anyone drafted in rounds 1, 2, and 3 can't be kept.

So if you drafted someone in round 6 last year, he might be your round 3, 4 or 5th pick.

I'd check your rules.
