Default The 2020-2021 NFL Season

Congrats to the Chiefs and their fans!

As sad as it was to see the Niners lose, I'm just happy they are competitive. That's all you can ask for after winning four games last year.

Time to throw away my vote on AZ again. At least they may have a good QB now.

I think most of the country was already happy just to not see New England there again. Congrats to Kermit and the Chiefs.

Now the long wait until the draft and free agency...

Trent Baalke is back in an NFL franchise's front office.

The general manager of the 49ers from 2011-2016, Baalke has been hired as the director of player personnel for the Jaguars, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon.

"I have known Trent for two decades and he'll be a valuable addition to our personnel department," Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell said in a team statement. "He had a lot of success during his time in San Francisco and has proven that he has a great eye for talent and constructing a team, so we're excited for him to be a part of the organization. We look forward to welcoming Trent and his wife, Beth, to Jacksonville, and we expect him to get involved immediately as we make decisions on our current roster and approach free agency."

The 55-year-old Baalke was most recently a football operations consultant for the NFL.

He'll now make a move east after more than a decade on the West Coast working for the 49ers, as he began his days in San Francisco in 2005 as a western regional scout and was promoted to Niners director of player personnel -- the same position he's taking in Jacksonville -- before eventually rising to GM.

Baalke, a veteran of 20-plus years in the NFL, spent 12 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers (2005-16), including six seasons as the 49ers' general manager from 2011-16. From 2017-19, Baalke worked for the NFL as a football operations consultant.

Baalke's NFL experience also includes stints with the Redskins and Jets, as he began writing his league resume with the latter in 1998.

Baalke is known most for his time in San Francisco as the 49ers posted a 51-44 record during his tenure and put together three straight NFC West title runs -- highlighted by a trip to the Super Bowl in the 2012 season.

As change sweeps through Duval, the Jags are bringing on some valued experience and a former GM who knows how to turn around a franchise and make it a winner -- which is precisely what the Jaguars and owner Shad Khan are aiming to do.

Greg Olsen, talking to a local sports radio affiliate, said that his departure from the Panthers wasn't quite as "mutual" as the team passed it off as in their announcement.

I'm nearing the "**** it" point with the Tepper era Panthers

I voted for Indy. Go Indy. Although the Texans and Titans with a few tweaks will make that division really tough.

Dak gonna Dak:

Quote:
The Cowboys and Prescott were close to a deal in September that paid the quarterback approximately $33 million per season, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. Then Prescott asked for more.

"I don't want to get into the details, but we have offered him significant money," vice president Stephen Jones said, via the Star-Telegram. "The money we have offered Dak no matter how you look at it would put him as a top five quarterback in the NFL. That is the way we feel about him. He is one of the best."

Prescott, who turns 27 in July, reportedly wants a deal that would place him as the highest paid quarterback in the league, or at least tied with him, per the Star-Telegram.

That's Seattle Seahawks' Russell Wilson, who makes $35 million a season. Wilson is on a four-year, $140 million deal he signed in April.

Rounding out the top highest contracts that crack $30 million: Pittsburgh Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger ($34.0M), Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers ($33.5M), Los Angeles Rams' Jared Goff ($33.5M), Philadelphia Eagles' Carson Wentz ($32.0M) and Atlanta Falcons' Matt Ryan ($30.0M).

Michael Irvin is claiming the Cowboys want to trade Dak for TB12.

I don't think it happens, but it's crazy enough to have Jerry Jones' fingerprints on it.

I watched part of a game yesterday, it was meh. There's a lot of offense and not much defense. I like the extra point set up, but I wasn't blown away by it in totality.

I've been watching occasionally the last few days.

Not much of a run game anywhere.

Watching this Battlehawks game, they stop the clock after every inbounds play past the two minute warning, so you can't kill the clock. Not sure how I feel about that.

Is Vince McMahon involved?

Yeah, it seemed like college football overall from what I saw last night. Granted, I only watch YouTube highlights because who got time to watch live sports. But for 10min highlight clips that cut out all the crap, it's decent enough entertainment. I think. I fell asleep during the first one I think.

I caught about 10 minutes live on Saturday night. It wasn't much different from college and the NFL. If the production value remains high and people keep watching it will be around a bit. It would be interesting if it could develop into a semi-minor league type of thing and players could get some spotlight they wouldn't normally get.

Recent history hasn't been kind to the SB runner up.

Niners are more likely to finish 3rd in the West

I mean, it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. Seattle was literally inches away from swapping with SF for the 1/5 seeds, the Rams have a ton of talent on both sides of the ball despite their regression, and Kyler Murray looks legit and almost led the Cardinals to beating SF in both of their matchups. The West will be a bloodbath for the next few years.

People thought the North would be a bloodbath this year but then Mitch Trubisky reared his ugly head and the Lions continued to be the Lions so it ended up just being GB and MIN
