I'm looking far into the future where our controllers are wearable gloves, with each finger being a point of control. Instead of holding a Move wand, each fingertip will be fully detectable and you'll be able to "pick up" objects naturally, or throw/push them.
Or perhaps a hybrid approach where you can still hold a controller of some sort, but only your thumb, index finger, and middle fingers are "motion activated". That could be some sweet ass gaming experience right there when combined with VR. Imagine getting some haptic feedback from the fingertips on the glove. Oh man... I'm nerding out. |

Interestingly enough, Sony released an item on Home during the winter, a set of "PS Plus gloves" where the finger tips were lit up like small move balls... |

Call me when VR develops to the point where I can plug my brain into the Mass Effect universe and bang an asari. I'll also accept plugging into KOTOR and banging a twi'lek. Don't judge me. |

yup.. it sucks because I'm not sure how are they going to bring competition with Sony's Morpheus, which is really the one that I'm waiting for.

Got a Rift today at work to tinker with for some sim work.
Pretty nifty. One of the demo VR maps was so much like a CoD map. I "walked" around in it for a few minutes, peeking around obstacles, checking corners, etc. If it worked with my PS3 I'd have taken it home and missed the next several days of work/sleep. The lenses that do the collimation of the image(s) produce a pretty noticeable screen door effect. And there was some jitter/framing latency when you turned your head. I look forward to seeing the Sony product....will definitely be buying one. |

But my reasoning on that is that I fear this is not going to be a device that takes the place of a screen. I still enjoy plopping down in front of a screen and playing games. It's either going to be something that gets used a bunch and then gets stashed away and rarely broken out, or it's going to be something that's only worth using for a select few games. |

I only see it being attractive for first person games. Racing, flight sim, and FPS stuff.
But if you are the type of person that gets a cardio workout from those types of games, I predict those people will switch to VR and never look back. For other styles of games I don't see it catching on well. Who wants to play Mario Wolrd 3D in VR? And other games where the player motion is more restricted and less dynamic, I don't see it as a big deal. Is Temple Run really going to be that much more fun in VR? |

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.
