Clutch issues
For the last two months I've had issues with shifting. I was getting some lock out in gears at wot, Sometimes in the morning the clutch pedal would stick. Now I'm noticing the first couple of shifts in the morning are very rough no matter how easy I try to be on it. When I. get on it in 1st and 2nd I get some jerking/bounce(not shifting) and now it's hard to shift in all gears at wot. Shifts fine at 50-70%.
I also felt like the car feels slower in higher gears lately and some times when I get on it in 4th at 3.5-4k the car revs up and goes but then 2 seconds later the car jerks acceleration is almost doubles. I believe my clutch my be slipping at heavy loads and cold starts. Can anyone back me up on this? 98 rs 06 wrx engine running stock turbo 13.5-15.5 psi 06 wrx clutch(unknown miles and brand) rs 5 speed. gear oil is 4 years old only has about 5k-7k on it I believe it's pennzoil. Clutch fluid was last flushed 2 years ago.

Not sure about the other issues you mentioned but it's very possible that all issues are clutch related. |

Would a southband stage 3 be good for vf48? They seem to get around 330-370 ftlb at the wheels. Southbend says the daily is good for 400 for the daily but doesn't say if at the crank or wheels. or should I get the endurance one instead rated at 450.

Hmmmmm
2 things 1-after an autoX in summer I discovered that pedal would stick, difficult to shift bc of the heat. After 20min on hwy, normal operation returned I replaced clutch master cylinder and scavenged a heat wrap from some Audi S4 and buttoned it around my clutch MC No issues and that was 13yrs ago 2-if you are cruising in 5th gear.....lets say 2800RPM......stomp on the gas.....if your engine revs like your in neutral, you need a clutch assembly Disk/plate/throw out bearing/pilot bearing Resurface the flywheel too($40-$60 at a machine shop) GL |

I take TQ at the wheels Add 20% to get TQ at the crank Add 20% for a buffer I take that final TQ number and use that to search for an appropriate clutch. Never used SouthBend I had an ACT and it worked very well. |

^ what Samurai said.
I can say I do love my SB clutch. I have a STi so its a little different but I'm running a SB stage 2 endurance (rated at 565 ft lbs) and love it. If you drove it you wouldn't know is not the stock clutch. Its quiet, feels factory and had absolutely no issues during break in. Just got an email from MAPerformance***8230; 30% off ACT clutches Last edited by Zak6182; 11-20-2020 at 11:07 AM. |

South Bend Clutch is on point. I have the Daily Stage 3 in and it grips like crazy. Unless you're pushing close to that power that is stated (400) which is rated at the crank, I would go with a Daily Stg2. The guys at SB said they rate their clutches conservatively so it can probably handle a little more than whats printed.
The rev's going up and it not moving is most likely the clutch slipping. My stock clutch did that in all gears after I got a Stg2 tune. I would get on it a little and the rev's would jump but it wouldn't move any faster. Doing that enough times will cook your flywheel up too. I eneded up needing a new one when I had a shop replace the clutch. |

I haven't been able to get the clutch yet. I just flushed the clutch fluid and it's much better now. yesterday it felt like it was dragging something in first gear at low throttle and I notice now I get some whining/grinding sound when trying to up/downshift into 4th. When I down shift into 4th without blipping enough it screeches when releasing the clutch. Would the shockproof mix likely help?
